My 10 year old KitchenAid blender leaks like crazy. I can "fix" it by replacing the jar but it's going to cost $80. Considering its age I feel like it makes more sense to just buy a new one. I'm thinking about the Breville Twist because Canadian Tire has it on sale for $100, but I'm open to alternatives. I basically only use it for smoothies and soup. Recommendations? Dire warnings? Hit me!

We love our Blendtec. We make smoothies almost every morning and it has held up great over 2+ years (I think it comes with a 7 year warranty). It's super easy to clean.

Following - I have a very expensive Kitchenaid one (wedding gift) that matches my stand mixer and Architect hand blender....and it's absolute crap. We've had it serviced several times, pieces have broken, and it still doesn't blend well. I'm thinking I may just go buy a cheapie at Target.

I don't know if this would work for soup, but our Ninja blender is a beast at smoothies.
