My parents want to buy LO a play kitchen for Christmas. If you have one you love tell me about it! I would prefer wood over plastic. I really want one from PB Kids but they are so expensive... looking for similar but more reasonably priced alternatives.

I have the Kidkraft retro because *I* liked it the best.
My LO plays with it but she really prefers the plastic kitchens at daycare and her friend's houses....sounds, lights, etc.

@Mrs. Yoyo: This is the one that we bought. Hopefully, this weekend it'll be assembled. LO is currently loving the box itself at the moment. At daycare, he plays with a plastic girls play kitchen. He loves it, so it was an easy decision to get one.

I wanted wood as well, but then I ended up with a cheapy plastic one and it is a good thing I didn't spend more money on it, because my son uses it as a storage locker for his trains!
I adore the pottery barn ones, I haven't ever seen them in person, but they are super cute!

@KT326: the only thing i would be concerned about with the m&d kitchen is the paint chipping. All of our m&d stuff but especially the play food and pots are really bad for that.

@BabyBruins: We have the Ikea one. M got it for her first birthday (a month ago) so I can't vouch for durability. She's already having fun with it and she's still a little young for it. It's super cute! No complaints from us.

@Mrs. Yoyo: @MamaMoose: I think the uptown one has more space to play on than the vintage one, which is one reason I wish we had gotten that one. But I do still love ours. It took me 3.5 hours to put together the vintage one by myself.

So we have a kid kraft, and although it's been great - it did tip yesterday when DS was playing with it (he is kind of strong, but still, totally scary).

@MamaMoose: It didn't but now I'm looking into buying safety straps. I thought the kitchen was too heavy but I suppose if DD tried to climb on it, it could fall.

@HLK208: hhhhhmmmm ok, thanks. I'll put hubs in charge of finding a solution to that. LO is still very small but she's mighty!!! The other day she was walking around the house holding an empty diaper box that was bigger than she is!
