Hi all! Just curious about (1) how your hysteroscopy/polyp removal procedures went (esp if you were under sedation, which always worries me) and (2) how your recoveries went (is there any chance I’d be up for going to an event at my older kid’s school that evening if I had the procedure done at noon)? Thanks all!

I had a hysteroscopy with endometrial biopsy and don’t remember it being a big deal, but I was not sedated so maybe it was less invasive than what you are doing. I had a d&c under general anesthesia and definitely could have done something that night if I felt like it, I was more messed up emotionally but physically fine fairly soon after. The next day we went to an outdoor event where I walked a ton, pulled wagon with kids, picked up kids, etc. I think both my procedures were in the mid morning.

I had a hysteroscopy (although just to check things out after my miscarriage) and didn't take any meds and it was fine. I think @yellowbeach had one with some kind of sedation
I was under general anesthesia for my d&c and could have done something that night if I really wanted to. -
@castilrm: I had a hysteroscopy/polyp removal under anesthesia and it was a breeze. I think we went out to dinner after and I felt fine. Good luck!

I have regular colonoscopies with ‘conscious sedation’ and it really depends on the hospital. The first hospital used more sedation and I never would have been able to attend any event the day of. The current hospital I go to uses less (this last time I had to convince them to use more because the first time I had woken up during the procedure) and I would be able to do something 2-3 hours after the procedure. Definitely don’t plan on driving within 24 hours of sedation though!

Thanks all! It makes me feel better hearing that it seemed to go well and be easy to recover from. I had a D&C under sedation last year but it was a few days postpartum (retained tissue) so it’s hard to separate how I felt after the procedure opposed to how I generally felt so soon into the postpartum period. I’m hoping this is a lot easier this time around!
