R is now 8 weeks old and has "real deal reflux" (term used by an LC I saw and confirmed by pediatrician).

He started spitting up around 2 weeks and by 4 weeks it was moderate. By 6 weeks it was getting bad, like after most feeds bad, and burps and gas seemed to really bother him. We put him on Zantac at 6 weeks.

By 7.5 weeks his spit up was pretty severe (sometimes fountains of spit up and spit up after every feeding) and I was worried about his weight gain. Good news is he is gaining weight like a little piggy still 1/2 lb a week. Pediatrician gave us a GI referral and at 8 weeks we are still waiting to be seen by GI. Zantac has done absolutely nothing for baby R, if anything he is much worse since going on Zantac. After feeds he is so unsettled. He arches, claws at my chest, tries to like crawl up my chest. Cries. It is heartbreaking....otherwise he is a happy little dude. He is EBF on demand and nurses every 2 hours during the day still (lucky me!)

Sleep is awful. He can do a 3 hour stretch but then is up for awhile in pain. Then we get some smaller stretches. He used to nurse to sleep easily during the day but not is woken nearly immediately by spit up, pain, etc. So he's barely sleeping during the day now.

Any tips for us while we wait for the GI consult? We keep him upright 30 mins after feeds, burp him often, and he sleeps on an incline. I went off dairy at 1m but just cut the big stuff....at 6 weeks I got strict about it (pediatrician said no evidence it helps reflux...but I just figured I should).

What meds worked for your baby? How long did it take for them to work? We are sort of desperate here.
