Depending on the closeness of the friend, I would have a casual conversation about it with them and see if they asked my opinion without offering it up. A close friend I would say "Dood, you don't want that it's junk and here is why..."

Let it go. I have a friend who literally registered for mainly toys. No things that you actually need like sheets and towels and thermometer and bottles. Just toys with a couple of practical things on the side. To each her own...... If she wants to buy all of that stuff than so be it.

No, it would be kind of rude to say something, but you are not obliged to stick to her registry in selecting a gift. (Because no one is obliged to give a gift, let alone one chosen by the recipient!)

If a friend registered for something I didn't like, I probably am not using it. I'd tell my friend, "I see you've registered for xyz. We didn't have good luck with that item, but all babies are different, so your LO might like it. Do you want to borrow ours?"

I would just bite your tongue unless she specifically asks for your input.

I wouldn't say anything unless she asks your opinion - just because you weren't a fan of it, doesn't mean she won't be as well. Just don't buy it for her - choose something else

I don't say anything unless they ask. I used to get comments all the time about my registry and it drove me nuts so I try to not comment on other people's registries.

I don't say anything because I wouldn't want anyone to comment on things I put on my registry. I had a friend who was pregnant the same time as me, and she would occasionally ask so I would give her my opinion, but other than that I said nothing.

I'd bite my tongue unless asked. SIL registered for stuff I'd never register for. she had a swing, a bassinet, a rock n play, and a pack n play with bassinet on her registry.... Seemed like overkill to me, my house isn't big enough for 4 infant pieces of gear that could essentially perform most of the same functions.
But I didn't comment to her. If she wants 4 pieces of gear to trip over, fine.

A friend registered for her crib mattress, but when I went to buy it online, it got horrible reviews, many of which suggested it was unsafe. I figured she registered in store and hasn't seen the reviews, so I totally pointed it out to her and bought something else.

Depends on the friend, my best friend is pregnant and I would tell her if something didn't work for me or if something was poor quality but we are super close. Someone I wasn't as close with I would bite my tounge and just not buy that item!

@autumnlove: Thank you! I'm hoping it doesn't confuse too many people! It is one of my favorites from her newborn session!

No, but I wouldn't buy any of it. I would just get something off the registry.

Like others have said, it would depend on the closeness of the friend. My sister just registered and I've looked it over and said what I think but now that I've mentioned it, I won't say anything again. I've voiced my opinion and that's that.
