What are some good places to register? I don't want to have a shower, but I would like to, uh, point certain people in the right direction if asked. (Translation: I don't care if anyone buys me stuff, but if they want to buy me baby gear I would rather pick it out myself. This will likely apply to my parents/MIL and their friends.)
If I get enough suggestions maybe I will make a poll later.

I like Buy Buy Baby. My sister registered there and she got a lot of perks and coupons. After her shower, she went and bought up the rest of her registry items she didn't get and spent $700 on about $2500 worth of stuff.

I think buy buy baby is better than bru but only if its local for people. I did bbb and amazon and was happy with it. Amazon is good for people who are going to send stuff by mail anyway.

we don't have Buy Buy Baby and i so wish we did. for locals we registered at BRU and then we also registered on Diapers.com.
we buy everything on diapers.com bc its combined with so many other dot com stores that apply to our household. its one stop shopping and they have THE BEST customer service.

What's local to the gift giving folks? A lot of people do a store and an internet site. If I were doing it now, I'd do Diapers.com and Babies R Us.

Amazon has everything, but for brick and mortar stores I think Baby's R Us and BuyBuyBaby are two great options.

I totally agree on the pointing people in the right direction thing. I'm really picky (ok, I'm a snob), so I would much prefer to receive things that I picked out myself and actually want as opposed to random baby crap.

Amazon! We did Buy Buy Baby, but had some complaints (ugh) because there wasn't one local to a lot of people. I just hate BRU, especially for returns.
Target might be a good option since they are all over & fairly easy to deal with...plus if you take stuff back, you can use the store credit for non-baby stuff.

Amazon and Baby List are good for online registries.
BRU has a good return policy so we did some of our registry there too.

@looch: The gift giving folks are kind of spread out. I would have preferred to a more local store instead of a chain, but I don't think that is a realistic option. I started setting up an Amazon registry this weekend. Their selection seems pretty comprehensive.

BuyBuyBaby is great if you have one. We don't, so I went with Babies R Us & Target. I chose not to do an online-only registry like Amazon - I feel like people prefer to shop in brick & mortar stores.

As a registry purchaser, I hate the BRU website and won't buy anything from it. Amazon is the easiest, since I already do so much shopping from there. BBB is easy and has a few brick and mortar stores. Target would be nice for people who want to do either online or brick and mortar (my mom keeps telling me what nice stuff Target has recently and I'm not even pregnant hahah).
