We don't have kids yet but I know my dog prefers me over my husband. I think it hurts my husband because he's the dog person in the family. He's the one who wanted to adopt a dog. He always says that we are going to adopt another dog just so he can have a dog that loves him.

Anyway, nope, no kid stories from me yet.

My daughter tends to prefer me in most situations, I am a lot more comforting I suppose It doesnt really bother DH because he knows she still loves him a lot

My Poor hubby seems to get rejected quite often by our DD. sometimes I feel bad but he puts up such a hard exterior about it that I don't think too much of it. I wonder if it bothers him as much as it does you?

Obviously DD doesn't know she's Doing this, but I am the one who spends more time with her.

I was reading a journal that my dad kept from the time I was born until I was a few years old- apparently around 2 years old, I was pretty mean to my dad for a week or so.

I wouldn't have much to do with him and kept rejecting him. While reading it I felt so bad about it, being that I had no recollection at all, but it still made me want to cry.

Yeah that happens to us, too. I think it's hard to make the switch from one parent to another when they're already in the process of doing it with another parent. And they seem to feel a little more needy during that bedtime, too.

So we only have one person doing it at a time. I usually do it M-Th and DH does it F-Sun. And on the weekends, the LO might cry and still want me to do it but we say "No, daddy is putting you to bed tonight" and by the time the bath gets going and everything she has forgotten about wanting me to do her routine. And well, sometimes she does cry throughout her entire bath with daddy, too.

I don't think you help yourself out when you give in to the LO in these situations because ultimately you want to split up the parental responsibilities right? At least that is how I look at it because I need the break from it once the weekend comes!

Oh snap, indeed! Hopefully Charlie feels better and is more accepting and loving towards you soon.

@mrbee: so I think it will help if you do more of a 50/50 or 60/40 split if possible. Our "schedule" also helps the LO because she isn't used to only one person doing the routine. We just learned this early on because it got to be a problem where she cried hysterically if the DH tried to give her the night time bottle. Once we worked him into doing bedtime, we have kept the schedule consistent and she knows that he does it on the weekends now.

Liam seems to swing back and forth. Because I do everything with him and am home with him he prefers me when he is tired, hungry, cranky or hurt or needs a hug. Since his daddy isn't home as much he gets super excited when he is around so he goes to him for more fun stuff.

I think all kids go through phases of who they like/want/need more. It sucks/hurts but they (usually) don't mean anything by it. I remember at least in the teenage years I wanted nothing to do with my mom. I grew out of that one. Plus Charlie is not feeling well...and we all know that boys become big puddles of jello when they don't feel well and they just want their mommies to take care of them.

@mrbee: re-reading your comments now and i don't think i got the real point of what you were saying to me. that was the 7 am, half awake andrea talking. sure charlie wants his mommy because he hasn't been feeling well. i'm sorry you felt rejected. that is hard on every parent.
