I would just ignore them and continue to call LO how you do. People tried to give my son some weird nicknames and none of them stuck, thank goodness.

Ugh, I would be SO annoyed! I would probably get sassy and correct them every time they used their own version of the name. MIL likes to say that DD has a fat belly whenever she sees her (in a joking/loving way, babies do have big round bellies), but it bugs me sooo much (body issues much?) so I always make a snide comment about how she's going to make her self conscious too early.

DH flipped his lid at his family. DD's name is Audrey, simple enough right? DH's father wanted to call her Al because of her middle name, his sister wanted to call her Aubree (umm why cant you just call her Audrey?) and his mom wanted to call her Leyna (middle name) DH told his family to stop because her name is Audrey and thats is what they will call her. That shut them up.

I agree with @looch: a lot of nicknames dont stick anyway

DH's step mom is always wanting to call P Penny, which I am NOT okay with!!! I've always dealt with people wanting to call me something else though so I don't ususally freak too much about it AND my pawpaw renamed ALL the grandchildren.... G's name in their house is actually "Irving" and mine is, well.. totally made up! It was clearly a term of endearment though so it was welcomed.

I hope that by you sticking to your guns people will lay off & start calling him by his right name!

Ignore them, they will. stop eventually. So annoying.

@septemberlove: I would totally pick a random name and start calling my uncle that if I were you! Uncle Eggbert.

I feel your pain a little - FIL and GFIL keep calling Em 'Red'. As in "Hello there, Red." It annoys the crap out of me. I realize they are thrilled the red hair legacy has continued but seriously - just because FIL and GFIL are/were called Red does NOT give them the right to bickname our daughter.

Besides. We already nicknamed her Squeekie. So there.

I think you should be direct. My brother and SIL named my nephew a family name, and she was very clear that my nephew was to be called by his full name. No nick names, no middle names, nothing. And, our whole family has been respectful and has done that. My father struggled a little in the beginning (because it is also his name, my brother's name, my grandfather's name etc), but after awhile he just got on board. If she hadn't been clear about it, I think that there would have been many nicknames.
