Today my doctor told me I had a retroverted uterus & I said "wait really?!" I'm 25 years old & no OBGYN has ever told me that! He was my doctor for DD & maybe he said it, but if he did I certainly didn't hear him. I heard that it can happen with childbirth, but he made it sound like I was probably born with it. He said it was like red hair or green eyes & about 1 in 5 women has them. Anyone else?

Never heard of a retroverted uterus! Had no idea you were only 25!

I dont know what retroverted uterus means either. Does it mean its tipped back? Because I found out my uterus was tilted backwards and I only discovered that when I was 6 weeks pregnant

@Mrsbells: yep! its tilted backwards.
i have one. the only difference in pregnancy is that it may take longer to hear the heartbeat with a doppler. but i was able to find the heartbeat at 11 wks 3 days which is pretty normal. the uterus should straighten up to normal after the first trimester tho so maybe you got it after your last pregnancy?

Yep I was told I have one at my ultrasound at 7 weeks. The tech said there's nothing wrong with having one and they can actually run in families. My grandma had one too.

@chopsuey119: haha yeah I'm 25 & I just mentioned that because I've been going to the OB since I was 18 & I've never heard that before! LOL

Does it tilt to "normal" at 10-12 weeks? i read that online but was unsure of what that meant. I didn't know enough to ask questions until I googled it & now I have questions for next appointment!@mrskc: huh! I have no idea if anyone in my family has one, I'll ask my mom

My best friend had this. She said it hasn't presented any problems for her through two pregnancies.

i have one too. i don't know if one has anything to do with another, but i did not experience the frequent peeing that everyone talks about in the first trimester. i was wondering if it had to do with the position of my uterus.

@sulli301: i think it just tilts straight up, cause i think normal uterus's (the ones that tip forward) will also tilt straight up as the baby grows. so i *think* no matter which way ur tipped, it'll eventually be straight up (or close to straight) around the end of the first trimester. haha i hope i didn't just make that up. but i think thats what i found on dr. google.

@JessLC: me too! i don't have to pee that much more than before pregnancy. and i think i'm just peeing more cause im drinking more water. so i agree!
