I had my first IUI on Friday afternoon. I found out at my ultrasound earlier this cycle that I have a retroverted uterus. Also my cervix sits way off to the right. During the IUI the midwife commented on both of these things, and also had a really hard time feeding the catheter in. She ended up using a "uterine sound" to measure and guide the catheter in. She said it made my uterus stand up better, and sure enough was able to get the cath in no problem with the sound.
Have any of you had experiences like this? Did you have success after IUI with a retroverted uterus? I know it's not supposed to affect fertility, but I wonder if it has more of an effect if you're doing artificial insemination. I did have a really hard time getting the cervical cup to fit over the cervix when we used that method.
