Have you had luck returning or exchanging Carter's clothes, not from the actual store they were purchased from? We received a couple of outfits which I genuinely love, but I'm afraid C will grow out of them too quickly and we have plenty of clothes in her current size, so I want to get the next size up. They were purchased at a Carter's outlet, and the nearest one in almost an hour away, so I'm wondering if I can take them to a regular Carter's store or Babies R Us or something to exchange them. It looks like some are still available on Carters.com at least...

Do you have gift receipts? If so, it shouldn't be a problem. I don't know if I've done it without a receipt but I imagine they'd give you cash/credit for the lowest price the item currently is?

I thought some gifts we got were purchased at a Carter's outlet, and went to the store to return (luckily it's only 25-30 mins away). But then, they told me they couldn't find the items in their system! They wouldn't accept it
I was bummed, but then realized where they came from eventually. My aunt had given us the hangers they came with and that clued me in to think of Costco, and I was right!

Probably not BRU, but maybe the Carter's store. I tried returning something to our local Carter's store, not knowing where it was purchased (MIL simply REFUSES to get gift receipts). They can tell from the color of the tag where it came from, and mine had been purchased at Kohl's. It's worth a shot, but I wouldn't get you're hopes up, at least not for BRU.

I've returned some there without a receipt and I wasn't even sure they came from there. I thought maybe they could have came from Kohls or a similar store, and they still took them back. I got a store credit, and it wasn't a ton but it was nice to be able to get something else.

I bought a Carter's outfit at Kohl's and returned it to get the next size up in a store in Canada. I think as long as they have the same outfit in stock then it's ok! They didn't even care that I bought it in the states.

I don't have the receipt but can get then. I'm hoping to just do an even exchange if I can find them in a store though. Otherwise I'll probably keep them.

I'd definitely recommend getting a receipt if you can. If not, they will give you credit for the current sale price, and since they're always running promotions and cycle through their inventory pretty quickly, older items without receipts probably won't get you much in terms of credit

We exchanged a gift at BRU when we saw that they had the identical set there, although we were fairly certain they didn't come from there. If BRU carries it and all you want is a different size/style, it can be beneficial to ask if you can do an exchange rather than a return which might not get you a great price.
