I have a ecovas robot and love it. We don’t pick up the floors and I just block off the problem areas on the map lol. I’m dying to get a mopping one as well

@hitchhiker: you are funny! so true about inviting people over. And yes, the roomba isn't amazing at picking stuff up. but i am so shocked at what it does pick up because it fills up quickly. I just don't like it for cleaning up the mess under the kitchen table and those areas. I need that stuff cleaned up immediately and I'd die having to wait for the roomba to get around to it. That's why I like the stick vaccum. Its so easy to grab and use a minute here and a minute there. I cannot live without it and I'd ditch everything else just to have a second one!

@jennlin821: I bought mine just before I bought my new house. I bought my roomba at the same time I bought the dyson vaccum. It was a big purchase at the time but I was constantly on my knees wiping up the floor after my toddler ate. I was physically dying. So I really wanted the dyson for ease of use. I cannot ever live without it now. I whip it out even when guests are over. I wanted the roomba to go around upstairs under the beds and stuff. I really need to use it more than I do. I do like to pick up the house - i'm constantly doing it anyways. ETA: I don't remember there being many options for roombas when I bought mine in mid-2018. I have a roomba app on my phone, but I'm not that crazy about using it to learn an app for it.

@jennlin821: I started with a basic ECOVACS model based on price. After having that one I knew I wanted one that did mapping and I could auto schedule and that would let me track him if he got lost. I didn’t want roomba cuz I’m cheap. So this time we got an ecovacs deebot 900 and it’s great. My friend who is a brand snob has a roomba and an m6 mopping robot and you can sync those up to run right behind one another

I have a Dyson stick, a roomba and a regular vacuum. Agree with @agold: that the stick is much better for cleaning up immediate messes. The roomba is good for daily maintenance type cleaning though with being home all the time I can’t stand to run it so I moved it upstairs (all hardwood though we have a rug in one room that they roomba can’t handle). Love how it cleans under the bed!

If you get dyson stick make sure you get a hardwood model bc if you only have the attachment meant for rugs it doesn’t clean as well and starts to leave streaks eventually.

We have a roomba that I run about 1-2 times a week, and a stick vacuum that I use daily. I find the stick vacuum is way better for around the kitchen/dining area where there are more table and chair legs. The roomba (unless I move the furniture) never feels like it handles that as well. I also don't love the roomba on the first floor of our house because we have a step down from our kitchen into our family room, so I'd have to move it myself to get both - and those are the most "lived in" places I want it to clean frequently.

I love the roomba for our basement though. I let it run in the evening after the kids have cleaned up their play space down there, and it's been a big time saver.

If only there were a robot duster - that's what I'd really like next! Hah!

@gotkimchi: It doesn't start every night at a certain time or go back to its charger, so you have to take it, turn it on, and put it away. The battery also only last for about a third of my house (1300 ft->400 ft.) It cleans floors a lot slower than I can with a swiffer, but that's because it's much more thorough and gets all the nooks and crannies. Lastly, you still have to put on pads, and replace when dirty, and each only clean one room of the house.

This runs EVERY NIGHT and look what it still gets! Yuck but also amazing. Half of our 1300 house is carpet.
