I have a cheap glider and ottoman set from Buy Buy Baby - it was originally $400 and we got it for under $300 using a 20% off coupon (I think the saleswoman did the math incorrectly but I'm not complaining!). I love it! It's the Little Castle Chelsea glider.

We got the Ikea Poang chair instead of getting a nice glider because I didn't want to spend the money and I thought it was kinda unnecessary. But for LO #2, I am definitely gonna spring for one. The Ikea chair ended up being so uncomfortable to nurse in....like the back was too far reclined so I had to lean forward to nurse which would end up killing my back. Plus there were many many nights when LO was an infant that DH ended up sleeping in the chair holding her which was also very uncomfortable.

As far as advice.....I'd definitely try out different chairs, imagine holding and nursing LO for long periods of time in the chair, imagine sleeping in the chair. Personally, I think ottomans are necessary because they make it so much more comfortable. And I think having a rocker/glider is nice for calming the baby, but not necessary if you have a comfy armchair.

I loved the PBK ones too-- so attractive and comfortable. But, I didn't love the price, and we had limited space for a glider as it was and the PBK one that I loved was just too big for our current space.

I was on the fence between the Little Castle Cottage glider (very similar to the PBK Comfort Swivel, but slightly smaller) and a more traditional wooden framed one. I was THIS close to the Little Castle one, but I decided that the cheaper, smaller Dutalier one was more comfortable and would fit better in our apartment. I got the gliding ottoman because it came with it, but a regular footstool would work fine.

I definitely recommend going someplace to sit in a bunch of them if at all possible. It was important to me to be able to put my head back on the chair. The downside of the wood framed one I got is that I won't really be able to have a toddler sit next to me in it, they way you could with the PBK one or the Little Castle one. But it was more supportive on my back so it was a fair trade off to me.

I simply used an old fashioned rocking chair, and it worked well for us. I bought a cushion for more comfort. I think a high back is a must, especially when you want to sit down and rest while feeding your baby. While I could have spent more, I don't regret my purchase and will use it again for my next LO.
