Have any DC area bees been here? I would like to take my DH for his birthday, but I'm unsure about the logistics of getting a table (and hiring a sitter so that I can wait in line!). I'd love to hear about your experience if you've been.

@Pancakes: I wish I could help, I would LOVE to go there. Everyone I know who has gone said it was worth it, but then again, none of them had kids... I feel like I read somewhere something about reservations for the rooftop, but that might just be for a big party? I can't remember where I read it.

@HazelEyes: Yes I think the rooftop reservations are for like 6 or 8 people only. None of my friends with kids have gone either, even the ones who work in the District. Maybe I'll have to think of a plan B!

I'm a total foodie so it's on my list but waiting in line is sadly unrealistic for us. Everyone says it's worth it but we just can't swing that without free babysitting. Maybe next time my mom is in town...

@Mrs. Carrot: I would also self-identify as a foodie, but my days of going out to all of Tom Sietsema's recommended restaurants are on hold for now. Any other ideas of where to go?

@Pancakes: depends on your budget really. Hubby took me out to Minibar last year for my birthday. Stupid expensive but worth the experience. We went to Kapnos Taverna in Arlington last weekend, that was good, and Graffiato (Mike Isabella's other spot) was really good a few years ago. I'm dying to try Compass Rose in Logan Circle, it's internationally focused and sounds really tasty (and is owned by the wide of David Green, if you're an NPR nerd like me :))

I've gone, before and after having kids. So delicious!! We had free babysitting since my mom was in town. Would it be possible for you to ask a friend to wait in line for you, and pay them in booze or something? It is a pain, since you have to get there early for a good spot in line.

@Pancakes: There's always Le Diplomat or Rasika. Not quite as new but we've never been disappointed at either place! Or Komi? Haven't been there for a while, but it was pretty freaking amazing. Can't hurt to make a rezzy and decide if you want someplace else?
@Mrs. Carrot: Mmm, I do love Isabella's restaurants too. Wasn't as huge fan of the popup in Mosaic with Jen Carroll--but she was working at the time which was fun
Man, this is making me sad we don't really get to go out to dinner anymore!

@HazelEyes: Oh, Komi is a great one too, we did that last year and it was fantastic.

@Mrs. Carrot: @HazelEyes: I think he would like Le Diplomat or Komi. Rasika has been on my list forever but probably not his first choice. Usually I'm the one with the long list of must-visit restaurants and this is the only one he's mentioned. He took me to the Inn at Little Washington for my birthday so I need to up my game!

@Pancakes: Oh MAN, the Inn was so amazing right? One of my bridesmaids gave us a gift certificate for a wedding present so we went there for our first anniversary a few years back. (Of course I found out like 2 weeks prior that I was pregnant with #1 so I couldnt drink or have the whole tasting menu bc of some no no's. Still so so sooo good!)
