Totally forgot she's due this month! Do you think they'll announce right away?
papaya / 10570 posts
@chopsuey119: Yes, they will. There is some tradition in which a special document is taken from the hospital to Buckingham Palace and pinned to an easel by the railings, as soon as a new heir is born. As soon as that happens, an announcement will go out to the media.
I'm waiting with baited breath, wondering if the heir will be born on the same day as my LO! Oh and I am British.

@chopsuey119: I don't know! That's why I'm not excited. I feel like, even when she does have the baby, we won't know of it or see him or her for awhile anyways

Totally! I woke up this morning wondering If she had the baby overnight. I'm hoping if they have a girl they don't take our name! I told DH we will have to change it if so but he thinks I'm crazy.

@chopsuey119: Rumor has it that it will be announced an hour after she's admitted to the hospital, and they'll at least announce the gender right away.
I think she's due sometime this week! And I'll probably be on vacation. Happy I have a smart phone!

Me! I actually thought this thread might be updates! I'm silly, I know.

@char54: This is my concern too. I'm due mid August and already get enough comments about how we "copied" Will and Kate (or worse - Kim and Kanye - GAG). But Alexandra is one of our front runner girl names and also one of the ones the media keeps buzzing about... so if they actually go with it we need to start loving another name quick! We're Canadian, so I guess the heir actually matters somewhat to us more than the US.

Eeeeeee! Not British, but love following the royal family. I was engaged in the same year as Kate, married in the same year. Was SO excited to be pregnant in the same year too. Yes I am a total dork. Made my husband get up with me at four am to watch their wedding, my mom came over too, lol. I loved Princess Di when I was a little girl.

I'm so excited! Someone else in the royal family is pregnant too. The queens granddaughter?

I am British and am not really all that bothered, so I can be the balance for all the non-British and really, really keen people. That said, I am a little bit interested in what name they choose. George Charles Albert Something Something Windsor. If it's a girl.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@Sapphiresun: yes! We are Canadian too so the buzz is very big here and we will surely be seen as "copying" if we use the same name. Our front runner is Charlotte, which 2nd only to your Alexandra! DH thinks they won't go with an expected name and instead choose something more unpredictable. Here's hoping! Apparantly they are teamgreen so maybe It will end up being a boy anyway!

I have been checking for updates too. Especially want to know names. My parents are from the UK & my grandma loves keeping up with the royal family. William was born the same year as me. I had a mug that said firstborn 1982 & thought it was about me DH & I went to London a few weeks before their wedding & saw all the memorabilia at the cathedral etc. I was home sick the day of the wedding & watched the whole thing while on phone w my mom!!!

I'm excited! I'm usually so not into celebrities and famous people but I like them so much

@cmomma17: we are twinkies! My hub got up earlier than usual but I was up at 4 and on the edge of my seat! I loved princess di and criiiiiiiied after her accident. @MrsTiz: yup, one of the sisters who ironically dressed like the step sisters from Cinderella to will & Kate's wedding (I feel like I should be embarrassed but I'm not...)
I think of the scene from love actually where the ginger British kid says 'in the states I'm like prince William....but without the weird family" because it seems so glamorous to outsiders...no?
honeydew / 7811 posts
@babyjmama: me too! I remember exactly what I was doing the night princess Di was killed! I stayed up way later than usual and heard it on the radio, I woke my mom up to tell her! I had princess Di paper dolls as a little girl.
So glad I wasn't the only one up at the crack of dawn to watch the wedding! I loved it!
ETA: love actually is the best movie ever. "They will love my cute British accent" "you don't HAVE a cute British accent!"

@babyjmama: Actually, no, the stepsisters from Cinderella were Sarah ferguson's daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie. The one who is pregnant now is Zara Phillips, married to England's former rugby captain Mike Tindall. She's also the Olympic equestrian who won silver at the London games. She's the daughter of the Queen's only daughter and the last in line to the throne I believe.
ETA: the queen has four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward. Anne's daughter is Zara Phillips, the one who is currently pregnant, whilst the 'Cinderella stepsisters' are Andrew's daughters with his ex wife Sarah Ferguson. Zara is last in line to the throne because until recent legislation passed when Kate became pregnant, male heirs took precedence over female heirs, regardless of birth order. So Princess Anne's children will always be last in line to the throne as Charles, Andrew, and Edward's children will precede them in order of succession. That law has now changed, meaning Kate's baby will be heir, regardless of gender.
Ha, royal nerd over here! Not British, but lived in London for a number of years and am married to a Brit, so I'm a bit obsessed!

I'm interested! My baby may or may not have to a middle name inspired by the princess.
@babyjmama: also, photoshop is pretty cool....

I never even thought about what to do if she steals my August baby's name. Hahaha. I think I would have to change my choice.

Omg I'm stalking the Internet waiting for news!!!! I wish there was some way I could sign up for an email alert or something. I'm a little obsessed with William and Kate and wayyyyy too excited about this lol.
Boy/girl guesses??
grapefruit / 4136 posts
@Running Elley: I guess girl! DH always says its unfair to guess gender bc you have a 50/50 chance lol!
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
See I'm so hoping they name the baby the same name as ours...but mine is already here so no one can accuse me of stealing it from them
I've been obsessed forever! We got married the same year and they announced her pregnancy while I was in the hospital delivering. So we were pregnant at the same time...we just didn't know it yet
grapefruit / 4136 posts
I saw on some British type TMZ show that Kate hasn't been out since mid June. Doesn't want any pictures of swollen ankles...I wish I had that luxury I was waddling to work until the day before I had j haha
persimmon / 1304 posts
I am so excited! And I really can't wait to find out the name. I think it's way more fun to follow the lives of royalty than American trash TV stars.
@Running Elley: I have always thought girl. I think because I read something awhile ago that said?women who have hyperemesis gravidarum (Kate's condition in her first tri), are more likely to have a girl.

I'm excited too. Mainly because when I delivered DS it was just coming out that she was pregnant and was on the news the entire time I was in the hospital. So in his baby book for top news stories I put " will and Kate pregnant". So it's kinda crazy to me that their baby will be born soon. Oh and I'm not British either.
