I think if someone specifically asks you what you need then it's not rude. I know if I ask someone what they would like then I wouldn't be offended if they said something like "anything on the registry, we're pretty set with clothes from sister's LO". It's not like you wrote it on the invitation.

That doesn't seem rude to me - if they are asking, then tell them! People can have just as much fun shopping for blankets, bibs, etc. (don't forget a Sophie!) as they can for clothes.

I dont think its rude. I would def say " I really need ...(list items).
I just went to a baby shower a few weeks ago where the host put out what the mother needed, and it was all practical stuff, no clothes. Sadly most people didnt listen and still got her tons of clothes.

Not rude at all! And if I were you, I'd not feel bad at all taking clothes back if they do give it to you so you can get what you really do need.

Not at all. At first I was a bit nervous about saying what we needed until I realized, they need to know what we really need! So I would say bottles or books or bibs or this high chair, bouncy seat, etc. Just say, I am so lucky that my sister has gifted me her lo's clothes, I don't need any!

Not rude!! I loved when people asked what I really needed (as opposed to wanted). I feel like clothes are hardly ever needed because we get so many as gifts and hand-me-downs... but my favorite gifts have been those where I was honest with friends/family about what I truly needed.

Just say what you DO need. I do think it's rude when people dictate what NOT to get them. It is all in how you phrase it

I think it's fine to say you already have a ton of clothing as long as you make it sound like you'd still appreciate it as a gift. The safest bet is just to refer them right back to your registry. Like "We will definitely need everything that's still on our registry, but we also love the creative gifts people come up with. We got a ton of clothing at our last shower so we aren't registered for any more, but it's always nice to see what cute outfits people buy".
