My DH used to get home at 4:30, which meant LO would wake up from her nap, have snack, and DH would be home shortly after. He got a new job so now he's not home until 5. It's been a big adjustment for me to have to wait that half hour!

On a typical day, he's home by 5:15. He runs a particular department though, and sometimes he's home as late as 7:30. I hate those nights

Depends on the day, but almost always after LO goes to bed. Tonight probably not until 1-2am, but he goes in later...today He he left during E's first awake period. By Friday he won't be leaving for work until 1pm.

My husband is usually home by 3:45 every afternoon, which is really nice!
clementine / 896 posts
Between 3-3:30.
He use to work afternoon til night and he's have to leave at 12pm. He'd get home after we were in bed and be so tired from overtime he'd sleep late in the mornings and we barely saw him during the week. His hours now at 6am - 2:30pm (though sometimes he works til 3).

Sometime between 3 and 5 most days. He usually leaves before 6am. On days he has meetings he can get home as late as 7.

7pm! But he doesn't leve until 10am-ish.
He had meetings in am and Oman sometimes so his schedule is shifty, but it works. I hate having to wait for him to come home to do what I need to do sometimes I usually push everything off to the weekends!
honeydew / 7283 posts
On a normal day he gets home at 6 or a little after. LO usually wakes up from her afternoon nap between 3:30 and 4. It's usually a fussy time of day and It feels like the longest 2-2.5 hours waiting for Dad!
pomegranate / 3516 posts
He gets home at 5. He's probably about to start overtime again in a few weeks though which pushes it back to 5:30 plus usually working an extra day a week (he only works 4 days normally).
grapefruit / 4085 posts
It depends on the day. Sometimes 4:30 and sometimes like tonight - 9! He's a teacher but does A LOT of different after-school programs. Whoever says teachers coast along obviously don't know my husband.

When I was at home, my husband came home around 6. The commuting time was anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes.
pomegranate / 3890 posts
His schedule varies but on weekends he is usually working a 12-16 hour day and then doesn't get home til around ten.

I'm a pretty lucky lady - we own a business with strange hours so he is home most of the afternoon and then between 6:30-7:30 for the night. It's awesome to be able to leave LO with him to run quick errands in the daytime!
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
Dan's hours are great for us! He gets off 1:30p (goes in at 4:30a while S is asleep), so we get the whole afternoon & night with him!
bananas / 9973 posts
About 9- 9:30 pm most nights, though he's been trying to come home earlier since LO arrived.

DH would always get home by 5:00, but now with his new job, it's sometimes 6:00. It's just an hour but it sucks tremendously! When he gets home that late, it basically means I'm juggling LO while cooking, then I'd have to feed her, bathe her, change her and pretty much get ready to tuck her in while he's in the bathroom after coming home.

Not a SAHM(yet), but I work from home and DH doesn't get home until 7:30pm. I hate it
grapefruit / 4903 posts
On a typical day, around 6:30-7pm. On a bad day, I'm putting LO to bed and eating dinner alone.

8pm! It's torture waiting for him to come home (not really, we just miss him).
coconut / 8305 posts
We drop DH off at 8/8:15 and pick him up at 7. I'm not the biggest fan of his hours BUT it means that he has 3 days off a week (usually split up) OR he can easily pick up a day of overtime without getting burnt out.
honeydew / 7917 posts
DH usually comes home around 6, and it's difficult to get dinner on the table while taking care of a toddler by myself. I wish he could come home even half an hour sooner. It would help me so much.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
4pm, if he's coaching 5-6pm depending on how awful traffic is because it's harder to get out of city later on (1 hour commute).
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Between 4 and 6pm usually but sometimes he has to call England for an hour as soon as he gets home so it can be a while until we see him and I can crack on with jobs.

My husband doesn't generally get home until 6:30-7pm (doesn't go in to work until 9am, though) so it stinks waiting so long. He does the bedtime routine with Jay once he gets home while I make dinner, then we eat a late dinner after Jay is asleep before 8pm.

When DH travels, he's gone for 2ish days, but he's home all day the rest of the time.
When he works locally he's home by 4.
He's been home for the last week and a half and it's been great! He's home the rest of this week too.
grapefruit / 4049 posts
Jealous of most of these answers! DH typically comes home 8:30 - 9p, so after the kids' bedtime, or right before it. He tries to meet us for dinner on Fridays, like around 6:30 or 7, if he can.

DH leaves around 6:45am and gets home at 6pm. And I totally agree with everyone...that 4-6pm stretch is brutal!

I'm super jealous of a lot of you! DH is home at 6:15-6:30 most nights and I thought that was early!
pomegranate / 3275 posts
He gets home around 4:30 or 4:45 pm but he leaves at 5:45am. I think he is going to move within the company soon and that means he will have to work later That will be a sad sad day.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
I am jealous, too. He is home a little bit after 7 pm on average so I put the 2 kids to bed by myself most nights. Bedtime tonight was really rough. I kept looking out the window for his car (no luck)!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
He gets home around 5:15 unless he's doing other projects that day then it's 5:45.
persimmon / 1026 posts
He's home by 2:30pm (works a 5am-2pm shift). Works out really well so he gets lots of afternoon time with LO but it was a huge adjustment for us having little alone time at night as he goes to bed early and I'm a night owl.
pomegranate / 3452 posts
He travels for work so depending on his customer location, anywhere from 5:15 to 9 pm. But some days he works from home like today and never leaves!
coconut / 8681 posts
Apparently my husband got promoted today and his hours are changing so my answer is too lol. He'll now be getting home between 5:30 and 8. But he won't be starting until 10.

Interesting to see everyone's work/life balances. I'm jealous!
I'm not a SAHM, only 14 weeks along. But, my DH works lots. Lots. 7am - 8 or 9 pm Mon-Fri and a few hours on the weekends. The other young dads in the office seem to leave around 6:30, see their LOs for an hour or two before bedtime and then work again from home for a few hours. I expect this is how it will go for us too.
I'm just happy that he doesn't travel a ton for work. We have some friends in consulting - that blows.

I'm jealous of everyone who's DH's get home early!!
It depends when he leaves for work. He has a half hour commute each way, and works 10 hours a day. So he can get home anytime from 6pm to as late as 9pm. If he doesn't get his 50 hours he has to make it up on Saturdays.
