My LO only says Dadadadadad... and Do (that's dog).. I'm starting to feel left out.. When did your LO start saying mama? LO will be 9 months old tomorrow and his adjusted age is 7.5 months.

I'm wondering this too. It's been close to a month since she said Dada but it doesn't seem like she's at all close to saying Mama.

She used to say dada but seems to have stopped for now. She doesn't say much other than loud screeching at this point. Haha. I figure m's must be harder to say so they'll take longer. He'll get there!!

Chloe said "mama" sometime after her first birthday.
For awhile there, I was convinced I'd have a high schooler that refused to say mama!

Mama didn't come until after 18 months. I ranked well below Dada and doggie and several other words.

My LO is 8.5 months and is saying “mama”; I think she began just before she turned 8 months but I can’t remember exactly. She says “dada” to my husband and to other objects (and to a dad at daycare the other day, d’oh!) but she ONLY says mama to me. I have to admit; that is a pretty awesome feeling! Your LO will get there and it will be so wonderful to hear once he does

Mine started babbling mama dada and other things at 4 months, and she clearly meant me with mama by about 8 months.

My LO said mama way before dada. But I just had surgery when she started saying it and she said mama mama mama mama nonstop..... it seemed like she always wanted me to pick her up and I wasn't allowed to even hold her in my lap. It was not a happy time for me.

My LO started "talking" just before she turned 9 months and her first word was mama. She also uses ma for milk. She only uses the "m" consonant so no dada yet, which makes DH kind of sad.

He said mama first at around 7 months, but now at 9 months it's dada all the time and he seems to have forgotten mama.

She still hasn't said dada at nearly nine months. She says momma and num num (food).

Our baby is 12 months and does not yet say mama purposefully, though Mr. Jacks thinks that she does.
She says "dog" "hi" "bye" and "peek a boo" (actually bop a boo... but I know what she means) and that is it.
She can get around to mama anytime

LO says dada and mama but I don't think he associates it with us. I think he just likes me make noise. He's 11 months old.

He's been saying "mamamamamama" for about a month or so. But I don't know if it is purposeful and he only says it in a verrrrry whiny way when he is hungry or wants something. He says dadadadaad very cheerfully, mind you. But again, I'm not sure if he knows it means daddy. He's 9 months.

He said mommom at 11 months... then switched to dada and now won't say mom mom at all.

He's 10.5 months and though he says mama and dada regularly, I don't think he's saying them purposefully. It's just babbling in my opinion.

@littlek: LOL - that's the same words DD says for dad and dog.
Momma is still not in the mix, although she knows who I am. She'll say buh-bye, UH-ohhhhh, Duh (dog), dada, and bahhhl (ball)

My son is 5 months old today and for the past 2 weeks has been saying "Moooomm", "Mommmmm", "Daaaa", and the other day while fussing during naptime, "Mam Mam Mam Mam". I'm not sure of any of those count? But he's been babbling those a lot.

@winniebee: my LO is the same way. He cries "mama" and "mom" when he's really upset but will say "dadadadada" all day long when he's playing.
