I feel like most parents I know are always excited to see their babies grow and learn... but I am petrified! I want him to stay my baby, I love him at this age - he is so fun and expressive. I am really scared for him to grow up... I can handle a precious little baby- but I don't know about a toddler... or preschooler... or elementary or... everything else. I have this crazy fear about it and I just try to hold onto every little moment as much as I can. Please tell me I'm not the only one!!

I am really looking forward to my son growing up, what I am terrified about is the teenage years. I just become paralyzed with fear when I think about changes in technology, bullying, peer pressure, teenage pregnancy, alcohol and drug abuse.
Right now my son is a screaming, tantruming toddler. If I could fast forward these times, I'd seriously consider it. While he can be a cuddler, dealing with him sometimes is enough to make me want to hide under the carpet.

Nope, the future terrifies me! I can't imagine him any other age but now. It really scares me how much I'm going to have to be responsible for for the next 18+ years! If I think about it too much I really start doubting myself!

I was just talking to someone about this this morning! I want her to stay young. I don't like that she's growing up because I don't know if I'm ready to handle it.. *sigh*

@cram88: @BabyBoecksMom: thank goodness I'm not the only one!! I feel like I should feel guilty for not wanting him to grow/learn. This first year goes WAY TOO FAST and I want it to slow down. I wish that the first year was spread out over two years

@looch: Oh I know right... I am amazed my parents held up as well as the did as I grew up on the cusp of internet, cell phones etc. I got my first cell at 14 yo, but I paid for it on my own. My younger cousins are just a few years younger than me - but that made a huge difference and at 10-12 yo they had smartphones that their parents paid for!! Idk how I feel about that
And that's just one small issue. I am just praying and hoping that I have the grace and ability to raise my child(ren) to be able to stand on their own.

The funny thing is, with my first, I could not wait for her to meet each milestone and "grow up" so she would be easier to handle, etc. Now with my 2nd (and probably last), I get sad each time he stops doing something, like crawling for example. And I feel guilty for not cherishing those moments more with my first. So yes, hold on to those moments and take lots of video/pictures!

@T-Mom: aww thanks!! I think at first, the first 3ish months, I felt similar. He's my first, and I was excited to be able to do things with him... and while I do look forward to the day we can go to the zoo or beach and he'll actually be excited about it - I also just love that he's my baby. I love the coo's and gurgles, the baby giggles, the tiny toes, the way he flaps his arms and kicks his legs when he's excited to see me. I love nursing him, I love how things that normally aren't "amazing" are just incredible when your baby can do it- who would have thought that rolling over or being on your hands and knees would be SO exciting.. but it is when your baby does it!! I love every second.

I cant wait for her to be able to talk to me so we can communicate better, plus being potty trained would be awesome. I am always looking to the next milestone eagerly.

I definitely am terrified of my lo growing up, I loooooove babies! I am even more scared because I already have an almost 4 year old and it seems like she grew up way too fast so I know before i know it they both will be crazy big and I will want another baby lol.

I was feeling that way as well and have been consciously working on being positive about the future. It helps that they just keep getting more and more awesome! I pray every night that we will be good parents and raise them to be strong, good women.

I mourn the loss of every little baby phase as it goes, but I totally understand what people say when they talk about them getting to be more fun all the time. I feel like if I could bottle this moment in our lives and live like this forever, I would love that. She is almost 7 months, sleeping through the night, an awesome napper and so expressive and fun. But then there are moments where I miss my tiny little newborn.....

@Mrs. Superhero: yeah.. it's so up and down. I am excited for his milestones, and I find that thus far I keep saying at each age, "oh this is my favorite age! This is the best." so I hope that will just continue

I watched WTE movie and starting whining to DH that I want another one hahaha... I know I want to wait a couple more years but I totally was unprepared to actually have baby fever again once my son hit 6 months!
And that's just one small issue. I am just praying and hoping that I have the grace and ability to raise my child(ren) to be able to stand on their own.
