Do you order from the scholastic book club at your LO's school? We just got our first one from LO's school and I think I'll order just a couple in October when it's due. I used to love these as a kid!

We do! We get the flyers, but I do the actual ordering online.
I like going through the flyers with DD and we make an activity out of it haha. She will circle books she likes with my special pen and then I go through them with her to ask why she wants it, what she thinks it's about, if she's read it at school, etc. That alone is fun to hear her responses/interests! I just get a few books here and there. Sometimes the deals are great but sometimes they're not.

I order a few times a year. I love the paperback sets! I also order online.

@mauxie: this may be a dumb question but when you do the online ordering does it send it to the school? Or your home?

I order Once or twice a year from my son's school. The rest of the time, I order from my account so I can get the credit and bonus points (I'm a teacher).

@Bao: Your order gets sent to your LO's teacher. The teacher will have a cut off date for orders and then submit the overall class order. The books get sent to the teacher and she distributes for LO to take home.

@LilSprinkles: @mauxie: thanks guys, was just thinking agreed to gifts for the girls. But not sure if that would work then!

@Bao: Tell the teacher you want the books to be a gift. She can get it to you without them knowing what it is.

Yup! I love them!!!! If you're not picky about books you can get some really good deals. I always order the $1 book of the month in each age group. Their bundles are also a really great deal. The first time I ordered for DD I squee'd because I loved ordering from them as a kid.

Yes! DD loves getting the flyer and choosing the books she wants - as did I as a child! I'll usually agree to buying 2-3 books out of her vast selection

@Autumnmama79: that is a great idea. When did you start letting her pick? I think I'll look through the flyer wi th her tonight befor bed!

As a teacher, the scholastic orders are SUCH a help for the classroom.... Each dollar spent earns the teacher rewards points, and the teacher can use those to buy more books or items for the classroom

I loved this as a kid! My mom let me order each time. I wish we had something similar where we live now.

We got our order form and I will be honest, I wasn't blown away by it, so we're skipping it.

@looch: yah, if you've got specific authors in mind it's definitely not the venue. Although some months are better than others. I like it to build her library with the $1-$2 books.
Also if you go online you can see the order forms from 2 months back. So, if you missed a month and there was a deal you wanted you can still get it!

I'm so glad this still exists! I was only allowed to buy a few books when I was a kid because we didn't have much money, but I treasured them. Still have one of the boxed Babysitters Club sets, lol!

I think overall they are a pretty good deal, and the best part is typically the books you buy equal points for your child's teacher.. which in turn equals $$ for books for the classroom so I support it!
