We'll probably be living in a packed up house with loaner furniture since we're moving back to the states a month after her birthday, so anything we do will be small.

I think we're going to do a bigger party in May after we move home, to make up for the 2 birthdays our families missed.

Yes, but neither party was big. Her 1st was maybe about 30 people and her 2nd was about 20 people. We did a bigger one for her 3rd again because she was a lot more aware of her birthday and was talking about it for months ahead of time. She's been talking about her 4th birthday already even though we have 8 months to go. The kid loves birthdays now.

It depends on when she starts daycare and how social she'll be at the time. We didn't have a party for her first and I have no regrets at all. Maybe we don't have a big party until she's a little older, but I've saved ideas for it even since before she was even born!

I know it was 23 years ago, but my parents had a second birthday for me in their living room cake, pizza, presents, that's all! the video seems like it was a ton of fun.

We're not there yet, but I'm planning on throwing a birthday party for Xander for his first birthday, and then just having a small immediate-family only thing for birthdays after that (until he's older and has his own friends and actually WANTS to have a birthday party).

Growing up, I only had TWO birthday parties - one in the first grade and one when I was 16. I figure Xander doesn't need some big event every year - cake and his favorite food will be good enough!

We don't have family nearby and we'd moved, so we didn't really have a party for either LO's 1st or 2nd birthdays. We got the grandparents on video chat and opened presents and had cake and generally made a big deal of him, but that was about the extent of it. My plan was just to make it a day where we did all of his favorite things and we gave him 100% of ourselves (so, no email checking, phone calls, housework, etc. until he napped). We did well with that, and he had a great day both times!

He has some real friends now, so I'm going to do a small 3rd birthday party this year. Probably 2-3 guests (plus their siblings and parents). I plan for it to be a slightly larger than normal playdate, with food and balloons.

We did not do anything for our son's second birthday, but we had just moved internationally the month before, so it was not so high on priority list.

We had a huge first bday bash for her with 80+ ppl. Thinkin of keeping it super low key for get second w/ just immediate family.

We are planning a smaller 2nd birthday party.
