We are not huge SS fans but I was so excited for a must-do childhood event. I was greatly inspired by Mrs. Jacks past blog post about taking her daughter to the ballet so I planned well ahead, including her idea to watch a few video clips ahead of time. I find all the Disneyland tips posted very helpful as well since I'm planning an upcoming trip.
Age: 2 1/2, Nap: essential 2+ hours, Showtime: 2pm
Seating: I got the tickets months ago when they were immediately released. I chose front of the 2nd or 3rd cheapest seating area-which brought me to the center of the 6th row!
Clothing: dressed her for the event in the morning-Elmo tshirt hand me down, coordinating leggings and shoes
Morning: Enough time to do an errand( *see extra mile), pack food, playground to run out the wiggles, and take a nap *half at home/other half in the carseat ride over
Food: Prepared the bento (musubi and heart shaped pb and j sandwiches), packed water
Parking: Arrived half hour early and chose 'forgotten' parking closest to event but furthest lane away to reduce walking time for LO (had to almost lap the place to get to it)
Extra Mile: Found out SS sold $10 Elmo Face balloons and toys at intermission so I went to a discount store earlier and bought a life-size helium Elmo balloon to play with at home ahead of time and take in her car ride. I emphasized how other kids will be picking up their smaller balloons at the show.
Last Minute Idea: I spied a recently purchased sheet set packaged like a brick and threw it in my purse to use as a makeshift booster seat-worked great!
Bathroom: As soon as intermission lights went on, I bolted up with LO, excused myself through a half a row of people explaining to their LO what is happening or deciding what was up with the balloons, and was first in line to the bathroom. Thankfully, LO went potty because I was quite worried through the first half that we might have an accident.
Picture Taking: Have someone take a pic of you and LO before it starts. Do a little interview with LO at intermission if you have video. Remember to turn off flash (oops!) and don't annoy your neighbors with too many pics. Speaking of....here are a bunch of pics I shot!
Anyone else planning on going or been?
