Anyone have their toddler and newborn share a room? I can't wrap my mind around the logistics of sleep, how do you make it work?

I can't either. So, we'll have the baby in our room for a while, then move him/her into a mini-crib in the office or our closet (it's a big walk-in) until sleep is reliable. White noise should help, I think.

I want to try this because I would love to convert our other guest room into a play room, but DD1 is such a light sleeper, I don't think it will work

We plan on doing it when LO #2 gets here! Baby will probably sleep with us until around 3 months. Hoping the white noise helps and the fact that DD goes down relatively easy.

@Weagle: @luckypenny: We plan on keeping the next LO in our room for a bit also. I told DH we should consider putting the crib in our office while we train LO #2 to STTN but in his mind the two in one room shouldn't be a problem.

We plan on having #2 in our room for the first 3-6 months (maybe longer depending on how well he/she sleeps), then I want to transition #2 and DD to share her room. We bought the Ikea Kura reversible twin bed and plan to have DD transitioned to the "top bunk" by the time they are ready to share so we can put a twin mattress with barriers on the "bottom bunk" aka floor bed for #2. This is all just what I'd like but DD is also a light sleeper so I'm not sure how it will work. I am hoping that since DD will be 3 by the time we do this room sharing that she will be less fussy?
