We've just had some family drama pop up, and I'm really curious about what you would do in this situation!
Lo is turning 2 this weekend, and we have a big, fun weekend planned for her! Saturday, her daycare has a big fundraiser/concert with a kids-rock band, and then we're hosting a party on Sunday at a play gym for about 15 children and their parents.
Mil and sil were planning on coming in from out of town for the weekend (~4 hour drive)...but we just got a text from sil before dinner tonight that they BOTH have shingles.
Lo has had her chicken pox vaccine, but I'd still be nervous for her to be around them (though this is the second time this year mil has had it and the first time she assured us her dr said she wasn't contagious...). And most of the other children have probably been vaccinated for chicken pox, as it's a requirement for our daycare, but not all the kids are from daycare, some may be too young to have gotten the vaccine yet, some may have immune issues I don't know about....etc.
Dh and I already made a decision, and I'll say below what we decided in a bit, but I'm curious to know what you would do!
And, I didn't have blisters. So, I was ok to carry on with normal activity with no contagion risk. So, depending on where the spots were, I would have been fine with the shingles addled family visiting.
