my son is outgrowing his current shoe size so looking at what to get him next. he lived in the natives jefferson style shoes this summer, so i will probably get him another pair of those, but mainly otherwise was in sandals. looking for something that's a little more full coverage for fall but the right level of support for a little guy who is sometimes still toddling like a drunken sailor, although increasingly eager to run. would appreciate any recs!

I loved Pediped at that age. I usually waited for a sale, bought them from pedipedoutlet.com, or Carter's carries a few Pediped styles and you can use their 20% off over $40 or whatever deal they have going.

We love the Nike Free's for our toddler. They are very flexible and have held up really well to constant wear and tear!

We got these for my 17 month old when he started to walk consistently - before this he was mostly in moccasins. I love these because the Velcro strap gives you some adjustability depending on how wide their feet are.

I stick to Stride Rite, but my kids have wide feet so my choices are limited.
I bought Nike recently and I'm not psyched with the quality. Also the Saucony tend to look worn so fast. My boys are hard on their shoes though (we live in the surburbs and play outside daily for hours).

Agree w/others, see kai run, Nike free. We went to the Nordstrom in our mall and tried on several different kinds. We basically just buy him a new pair every few months because he grows out of them and by that point they are totally beat up.

We have tried Pedipeds and Carter's flexi sole brand. I prefer Pedipeds. @erinbaderin: those StrideRites are stylish!

I've done mostly stride rite for that stage. Not always the most stylish but cute enough and they have held up. I also like the stride rite "Surprize" brand at target, if they are on sale. I have girls so do a lot of the casual Mary Jane style so they can wear them with dresses or pants.

Love pedipeds and see kai run (I find skr wider) if you can find a good sale. Pedipeds are my favorite for sneaker style and they hold up really well. My dd had toms that were great but I'm not sure they'd hold up as well for my wild ds.

@nwm: we like stride rite early walker shoes. I think they are called SRT or something similar. But they can be pricey! We have had good luck finding stride rite at Nordstrom rack on sale ($30ish instead of $45 at the mall).

We're on our third size of new balance sneakers, they fit well, are supportive and comfy, have held up well, and he likes them. We've also had sauconys and I wouldn't repurchase those, the quality was not nearly as good and they seemed less flexible.
