LO is 8 months. I used to enjoy breastfeeding so much, but since he started teething at 4.5 months, he started having nursing strike episodes, and gets increasingly distracted at nursing. Nowadays he is so unpredictable (you just don't know when he decides he doesn't want to nurse), I pump 70% of the time and nurse 30% of the time during the weekends. It is a manageable new normal, but we can't really go anywhere because I am chained to the pump at home every 3-4 hours.

So normally, I'd breastfeed him at 6:45am, then 3 bottles of breastmilk during the day (I pump 3 times every 3 hours), then breastfeed him at 6:45pm. I enjoy it when he suck on me for 30 minutes, and passes out on the boppy while I carefully put him in his crib. Then I pump one more time (for 6 minutes, yields 1.5-2.5 oz) before bed.

So tonight there is another heart-breaking nursing strike episode where he sucked and released, sucked and released for a few times, then burst out crying and won't take my breasts. He was so upset at one point he won't even take the bottle. He just cried and cried. Finally he took 2.5 oz, cried, and passed out. It's been 3 strange nights this week now. Probably another round of nursing strike (his 6th teeth coming in). I probably could ride it out like the previous ones, but I just don't know what's the point anymore.

A zillion friends has been telling me to wean, saying that it will make me so much happier. I am just stubbornly hanging on to a point that I don't even know why. I am afraid I don't know if I'd know what to do because so far I only know how to breastfeed or give a bottle of my breast milk to him. When I open the fridge, there is always milk in there. LO hasn't even really drank formula since he was 1.5 weeks old (he drank formula before my milk came in).

What would you do if you were me? Would you just give up completely? I thought about quitting pumping completely and just give him formula during the day, while I breastfeed him at 645am and 645pm... but I just don't know if my supply will be enough.

I do have a ton of milk stored in the freezer which I think could last 1 month. However I think 30% of them has holes in them (because they kept falling out from the fridge, and when I sort them I probably broke them).

What do you think? Advice needed.....
