I found this cute chair & ottoman on CL today and thought it would look great in a nursery. However I'm not sure how functional it would be. Show me what you have and tell me why you like it or dislike it.

I'm finding that early Sunday mornings are not the time to be asking vital decor questions lol.

I don't have a pic yet, but we used an old wooden rocker (that DH's mom used to rock him) and I refinished it and painted it purple. We just bought a Fellowes footstool from Staples (one of the slanted ones that go under a work desk to elevate your feet).
I LOVE the chair you posted though - if it were in the budget, I would have been all over a patterned, upholstered glider.

@Sugar.Biscuit: haha! We have a glider, and I love it. I don't think just a regular chair would be useful for us.

I'm on my iPad so only have crappy photos of it on here from back when the nursery was still a work in progress, but here you go:

We've got a very old wooden chair that a parent gifted me for my classroom years ago. She rocked her boys in it, her mom rocked her in it, and her grandmom rocked her mom in it. It's so special to us! (I made the cushion covers.)
All I have on the iPad is this collage photo:

Also. It doesn't rock and we just use an ottoman to rest our legs while we rock him. I think the chair you found is good. Try cuddling a baby doll in it to see if you're comfortable.

I have a traditional looking glider (with the wooden frame showing a padded cushions). It's so very comfortable but is definitely not nearly as pretty as the one you posted. I really wanted something that glides and we didn't have a lot of room so the beautiful upholstered ones were out. Lo isn't here yet but I live sitting in it to read or talk on the phone. But that one you could use anywhere in the house after you no longer need a nursery chair.

@mewtill: not to thread jack but I live those letters! Did you make or buy them? Are they heavy?

@Foodnerd81: My sister made them for me. They are cardboard letters from Michaels that she wrapped in fabric and hot glued to secure it. I added the twine. They're not too heavy.

I think it's personal preference. We have a wooden glider but I used a regular arm chair at my parents' house and actually preferred that!

We had ours before LO came along, so we didn't buy one especially for the nursery. I never actually used it to BF because we ended up co-sleeping and her nursery is downstairs, but I love this old chair and it's super comfy to just have in there to sit in.

That is GORGEOUS, but I dont know that something that didnt rock or glide would have been as useful for us. Personal preference.
This is ours. It's DH's great-grandmother's rocking chair that I stripped, sanded, stained and reupholstered.

I'm still working on it, but we have a glider that we got when we got married. It belonged to my SIL and she bought it for her first baby. I recovered the back cushion and cut a new seat cushion, and still need to do the arm rests (take off the Velcro and make something padded.

We have an older Dutailier glider that I used and sat the crap out of before DS was even born. We bought it off CL also; and DH put it in the living room since we hadn't cleaned out the office -> nursery. It was the only place I found comfortable to sit/recline in with a growing belly late in my 3rd trimester.
