My lo is 2.5. He got hit hard by a 24 hour stomach bug Last week but hasn't gone back to his regular self yet. The last two days after his nap, he literally just lays on the floor for hours, very gassy, clingy and just a very unwell little boy. No fever, little appetite. He had diarrhea yesterday but nothing today except extremely smelly toots and lethargic acting. He acts somewhat dazed and out of it just staring off. If he's not laying on the floor then he will not let me put him down which is hard at 24 weeks pregnant. The only two things he's ate both days in a row are milk and Costco applesauce pouches.
I cannot get into his Dr until Friday
But I will call for an opening with someone tomorrow morning.
Anyone experience anything like this? I just want to make him feel better

Hugs mama! I would try and get into an urgent care tomorrow and get checked for salmonella or ecoli.
My LO got hit last night with a tummy bug - his first one, and he's 3.
I feel so bad for him and wish there was something I could do!
Considering his lethargy and the length of the illness, I'd get him checked out ASAP just in case -
Apparently stomach upsets can make kids temporarily lactose intolerant, so the milk might be making things worse. I know when my son had his first stomach bug I was desperate to get any calories I could into him (he's underweight already) so let him guzzle milk, but my doctor told me that was probably extending the diarrhoea and making him more uncomfortable. I'm not sure if this is true for every child but the second time he caught a tummy bug I held off on milk.
That being said, he was usually pretty okay when he wasn't actively throwing up or having diarrhoea - the fact that your son is seeming so lethargic, and that its out of character for him, is sending up red flags. To be honest I'd probably go to emergency... -
Sorry you're going through the this - it's the worst. Def try and keep the fluids up as much as possible. My doctor actually said that food can make it worse if he's dehydrated but water is super important! My Lo had a bug that turned out to be salmonella - only discovered it after the second visit to the doctors.

Yeah, the lethargy would make me super nervous. If you can't get in with another provider in your office today, I'd get to urgent care or the ED.

Seconding cutting him off from the milk -I've heard that you're supposed to avoid milk for at least 24 hours after a stomach bug. Try some pedialyte or something similar to get some liquids into him.

Have you told his doctor all this? Lethargic is usually a red flag and I can't imagine not being able to get a same day sick appointment?!

I got him in this morning and the Dr. did a rapid strep test which came back with a slight positive. So he got a Penicillan shot
ouchie! And the test will go to lab to confirm 100%. We have to watch him today and if no improvement go to lab for a blood draw. @edelweiss: he woke from his nap looking and feeling well! Thank you ladies for your comments and concerns. So thankful to have hellobee to look to.
