My 21 month old is a very active sleeper - rolls around he crib, switches sides frequently, etc. She's always slept in footie PJs because I've always been worried that separate top/bottom PJs will ride up her torso as she moves around all night. Last summer we used very light Gerber footies, but they only go up to 9M and she's now in 18-24 month sizes and all the footies for that size that I can find are warmer. There is AC in her room over the summer and she won't keep a blanket on with all the movement, so I'm looking for something warm-ish but not as warm as regular footie PJs are. Am I overthinking the separates issue or is there a good solution for active sleepers I haven't considered?

Xander usually wears the Carter's Snug Fit cotton pjs. They seem light enough for the summer, but are still footie pajamas.

What's the temp in the room? It's about 68-70 in our house and my 23 month old just wore a diaper to bed last night. And often does......she never seems cold to me!

@Adira: Snug Fit is what she's in currently. I was thinking they may be too warm for summer (we're in VA and it gets pretty humid, even with AC) but maybe that's just my own tendency to like things cooler.
@blackbird, it's about 70-72 max. We can always crank the AC and dress her in regular footies, I guess. She's her dad's daughter - doesn't like being cold.

@Mrs. Carrot: Hmm... I have no advice. Xander's in the Snug Fit and it's usually 70+ in his room AND he tends to run warm, but he doesn't ever seem to be too hot in these.

What about onesies with sleep pants? We put LO in footed sleepers in the winter and onesies in the summer.

We just do 2 piece sets. Footed are only in the winter on really cold nights. She moves around all night. The blanket never stays on.
Summer is nightgowns, short sleeves and shorts or short sleeve and pants. She is fine in whatever. Our house is around 70 year round.

@Mrs. Carrot: they do and she doesn't care. Right now her pants are capris in the morning. Her nightgown last night was around her waist when I looked at the monitor this morning.

LO is 28 months and an active sleeper who still doesn't keep a blanket on, so he has been in footed fleece pjs all year all long since for as long as i can remember. he seems fine with it. we keep the AC on in the summer.

We have some "little me" brand footie pj's that are light/cotton and not fleece. LO is a size 18-24 mos.

Have you considered sleep sacks? My oldest is still a wild sleeper and he used a sleep sack until he was 3 years old. My youngest loves it too. He refuses to use a blanket and pillow and he's almost 3. He's actually wearing a 4T-5T size toddler sleep sack from Halo. The kind where their feet stick out. He's on the taller side so even if he likes his feet inside they are always out by the time he wakes up. It doesn't bother him at all. His room temp is around 72-74 at night.

@erwoo: We actually used them until she started standing up but had to give them up. She likes to walk around the crib to settle down and they would get in her way, even the ones with feet (there was a lot of material around her. She would pull and tug at and would just get frustrated and take longer to fall asleep. Once we did away with them, she was much happier.

I'd try onesie's with pants, or, what I do is I just cut the feet off regular sleepers :). my kids slip a lot on the tile and that's what works for me! most of ours are hand me downs, so I didn't feel bad cutting into them
