LO has outgrown his Woom balance bike, which he never quite got the gist of. Instead of getting him the next size up I’m thinking a skateboard might be better since he’s way more excited about skateboards than bikes. Any recommendations?
LO is 38.75” tall and 38 lbs.

Ha! The more I read and try to find the best skateboard for toddlers it appears these are quite unsafe for little people.

I got my son (5) a skateboard for Christmas, and it's REALLY hard. To be fair, I got him a mini one, because it was cheap, and the salesperson did warn me it wasn't really the way to start, so keep that in mind. But I'd go with a scooter instead of a skateboard.

I vote for a scooter, too. My balance-bike-hating 4 year old really loves his 3-wheeled scooter.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I would be worried about falling and breaking a bone. I just went through a broken bone with my son so maybe I'm a bit paranoid now

I agree with others that a scooter would make more sense. DD has a globber scooter with an adjustable handlebar. She loves it!!!

My daughter really wanted a skateboard last Christmas (at 3). We got her a 3 wheeled scooter and she is just trying it out now that it’s getting nicer outside. She still says she wants a skateboard, but I don’t think she’ll be ready for that for quite a while! So I think a scooter is a better option for littles. Maybe they sell scooters that can become a skateboard later?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: a nice scooter makes a difference. My five-year-old is a very proficient scooter rider, and she tried one of the character/radio Flyer models at our neighbors’ house and really struggled - it didn’t move well, IMO, The most popular ones on my kids friends are the micro mini scooters, but those are pretty expensive. My girls have the Y- bike version, which Are a bit more moderately priced, but still very good quality. They are easy to turn/the brake works well

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yup! Those are definitely some of the best out there. We’ve used them before, but bought Y-Glide scooters because they’re very very similar and about half the price.
My eldest had this one with a detachable seat:

We got my daughter the adjustable micro mini scooter for her 3rd birthday last year, and she loves it! She still struggles a bit with pedaling and riding a bike, but she's a pro on her scooter. I agree that her friends with the bigger scooters like the Radio Flyer seem to struggle more versus the ones that have smaller, thinner scooters.

I can definitely attest to the success and longevity of Micro scooters! We bought our first one when DS was about 20 months (so a little too you for it, tbh), but it has lasted through two kids and we moved on to the Micro Maxi when the older one was 4, and now the younger one rides it all the time. Have fun!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: love this picture so much!! My now 4yo has LOVED his micro scooter since his 2nd bday. They can go so fast on it, he is way less interested in his bike which is so much harder to maneuver. Have fun!

@bhbee: thank you! We took it out for a spin this morning on his way to daycare. I’m not sure if he has the full range of motion for the wheels. Still trying to YouTube some of the scooter set up.

We love our micro scooters. My 3 year old has the mini and zooms around in his. (He has since he was two). My six year old has the regular one and we go everywhere with those. I actually won an Instagram contest from them and they sent me the 10 plus year old version. So when my youngest is ready (she just turned one), the kids can all move up a scooter
