I am in need of some advice regarding nap sleep training. First of all, we have been considering sleep training Elliot. He is almost 16 weeks old and we have a set bedtime (7pm) and a set bedtime routine (bath, swaddle, lullaby, bottle and rocking) that he responds really well to. He usually goes right down, I dream feed him a few ounces between 10 and 11pm. Then he'll wake up around 2am just for his pacifier, at around 5 to eat and then goes back to sleep until between 7:30 and 9am.

When I really think about it I'm okay with his nighttime sleep the way that it is. Our main problem is his daytime naps. He gets tired/ready for a nap between 1.5 and 2 hours after he wakes up and he takes 3 naps a day. However, to go down for these naps he needs motion of some kind. Usually I have to bounce him to sleep on an exercise ball and he needs to be held. If he's swaddled and we put him down in his crib while he's solid asleep he'll sleep for about half an hour in his crib during naptime.

Has anyone sleep trained JUST for daytime sleep/naps? Or if we sleep train him for the day does it only make sense to sleep train for both naps and night sleep? How should we go about this?
