LO is almost 6.5 months and we will be starting sleep training tonight. We plan on doing the In Room Method outlined in the Sleep Sense Program. I am a huge baby when it comes to hearing LO cry, and my DH is an even bigger baby, so I am very, very nervous for this. I know she needs it though and I know it will be best for her. We used to be able to put her down awake, and now she acts like the crib is her arch nemesis.
My questions for those who have sleep trained are...
1. Did you have to re-train at any point due to teething, learning new milestones, vacations, wonder weeks, illness? I wouldn't mind going through a few rough nights of crying while training if it sticks, but if you have to re-train for every little sleep disturbance, I guess it doesn't seem worth it to me? My LO's sleep is very affected by learning new things and WW's, and I am wondering if we will just need to do this every time she regresses.
2. Did sleep training and/or CIO NOT work for anyone? I keep reading that most of the time, sleep improves greatly within 3 days, but I am wondering if there is anyone whose baby it did not work on.
