Was standing a hindrance to sleep training?
My LO just stands there or walks around her crib screaming bloody murder. I have yet to see her lay herself back down.....ever.
Will she eventually? Did you sleep train your LO when they were able to stand and cruise? How did it work out?

I never sleep trained but standing was definitely a hurdle in LO's sleep routine. She cried for 30-40 minutes straight until she was exhausted and sat down to sleep. It lasted for almost one week....I saved her a couple of times but eventually tuned her out!

Subscribing to this thread, as my pin-him-down-with-a-blanket trick only works for nightwakings if he barely wakes up. Zero success at going-down-for naps. I'm bad and have had to resort to putting him to sleep for naps with the stroller or a car ride lately!

Well, I stay in the room for a bit and keep putting them down. Yes, both my babies stand, cruise, cry for me, play w things on the dresser, windows, baby camera, etc! Ugh. Just keep doing it, saying, it's nap time. They finally go down but right now, we're still doing this and its been about a week. Today, took about 15 minutes. Make sure she is ready to go to sleep. Eventually fatigue will get her down...

Uh oh... My daughter has been sleeping great, but she just (as in this morning) learned how to pull up in her crib. I am predicting a sleep regression now b/c I don't think she knows how to sit herself back down

Standing, cruising, throwing everything out of the crib... Eventually he sits down and goes to sleep, but it does take much longer since he stood up in his crib.

My LO went through this, but eventually learned how to sit back down. I actually think it's sort of helpful now. If she's not going to nap, she just wanders around her crib and entertains herself.

I just posted about this the other day! DH tried putting her down but then we realized she would just start expecting us to put her down so we stopped. Now she sleeps after 2 mins of crying and doesn't stand much anymore.

We are trying ferber tonight and so far 30 minutes and no ceasing in crying.
Man....this CIO thing just doesnt sit right with me! Im so sad. And so tired.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I know. DD cried on and off for 2 hours the first night (Friday) but the past three nights are only 2 mins!! It was so worth it to us. She has only gone to sleep with rocking, bottle, AND sleeping in our bed.

Sawyer tried the stand to avoid sleep thing for a nap today, I let him fuss for about 5 minutes, then laid him back down and luckily he went to sleep. I am hoping that it was a 1-off, because we finally just got back on sleep track after illness then travelling then illness again.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: oh no! I know it's sooo hard.
And ohhhh no, Friday was 2 hrs, Saturday was 1.5 hrs, and Sunday was 1 hour. Then Monday it just dropped to 2! I figured it would be hard at first that's why we chose a weekend. Can Your SO help? DD just turned 9 months yesterday

But she gets hysterical when we go in. She is still crying! I just want to cave. But your story is inspiring....

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I was super anti-CIO I mean, I have her co-bed all the time but then DH started sleeping on couch so then I decided to stop lol
Maybe try extinction. You have to do what you feel comfortable with though. Do you think if you picked her up she would instantly calm down? I kept asking myself, " if I put her in our bed would she go right to sleep" and the answer was always yes, which made the decision to CIO easier for me.

@luckypenny: if I picked her up right now she would definitely fall asleep. We also co bed....but even when she is in bed with us she wakes up every hour.
Extinction isnt an option....she cried for three hours when we tried it before and im not willing to let her cry that long!!
I go back and forth whether or not cio is the right thing to do. It just doesnt feel natural. But on the other hand.....we are exhausted and our quality of life is so poor with waking up 10+ times a night.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: interrupted sleep especially that frequently is the worst!! Just keep up with the checks. She will eventually fall asleep
