I'm looking to either buy a sling or a baby carrier? Pros and Cons? Also any brand suggestions for either?

We liked the Moby Wrap when he was really little and the Beco Gemini when he was older (he can face in or out). We have used the Ergo and it is nice too. I never got the hang of a sling.

I'd be interested to hear people's opinions as well. So far we plan to start with a ring sling (Sakura Bloom linen) and an Ergo. I say start with because I know if you love babywearing, buying these things can get addicting I chose those two based on length of use and parental preferences (hubs has already said he will not ever use the ring sling).
Advice?

@brownie: Oh, I don't know if you've visited thebabywearer.com, but there's SO much info there! Could be a useful resource to have in addition to everyone else's advice

What worked best for us was Moby wrap when Baby Y was small, because it really cradled him close and kept him secure. Down side is that there is a lot to wrap. Now that he's older, we use the Bjorn comfort carrier. Pricey, but worth it for us because it is easier on the back and allows him to face out, which most carriers don't. I borrowed a friend's sling and never liked it -- he always looked/seemed uncomfortable and I was paranoid that he would suffocate.

I have a Moby and an Ergo. My didn't like the Moby so I'm hoping #2 does. I would get a carrier if I were you (with an newborn insert if you plan on carrying your LO during the early stages). They last longer.

@brownie: We are planning on using the same combo you did--Moby for when she's small and Beco Gemini as she gets bigger.

I love the Didymos baby carrier! It's organic cotton and they have a lot of really beautiful colors and patterns. I love the closeness of carrying my baby in a sling much more than a stroller. In NYC it is a lot easier to get around with a sling too

I tried a sling once and hated it! It hurt my shoulder, she didn't look comfortable and I didnt feel like she was very secure. I think this time I will get a baby k'tan because it looks super easy to use and all that good stuff.
