We don't have a play room so the majority of los toys are in her room. I think the only place we have room for them is in bins in the closet. Just wanted to hear or see other ideas.

We have cubbies, with the little colored bins, which surprisingly, fits a lot of stuff. Toys go in 4 of the bins, and then there are 5 open cubbies for bigger toys or books. We also made 8 picture ledges for all of her books, which take up no room, since they are on the wall. Not sure what kind of a set up you have, if any of this would work, but just an idea

We are looking into buying a storage bench from pottery barn kids that would tuck under her window. We also seriously need a storage solution for all her books and toys. And she's only six weeks old!!

@Bao: sounds neat, any way you could post a picture? I'm a visual person.

@MamaMoose: we already have a bench that we use as a bookshelf. Seriously, we don't buy her any toys but everyone else loves to!

Our boys share a room at the moment, so toy space is very limited. I have two shelves over each of their beds that act as kind of night stands (they're a little older so they just stand on their beds to reach them.
We also have a few floating shelves on another wall to hold any toys they want to put on display. A little toy box and then their closet is pretty much full of toys in bins.
We JUST went through all their toys, with them, and donated about 4 garbage bags full of toys! (and their room is still full of toys! UGH!) haha.

@Bao: cubbies. We have a place for books, just not toys.

We have a hanging shoe rack on the back of her door. It gets a ton of stuff up and off the floor. The pockets aren't huge, so you can't fit bigger toys in it, but it is good for most things she has. We also have a hanging sweater holder in the closet than I can stuff toys into since she doesn't really need hanging closet space.

@artbee: I tried to get a good angle for size, hope it's a good visual!

@GreekWife: good idea, I bet we have room for a hanging sweater holder too.

You should check out Apartment Therapy if you haven't already. I always go on there to find small space inspirations. They have a section for playrooms, too. Here's one I liked a lot:

We've been getting rid of a lot of toys... it helps so much!!

@mrbee: I would love to.... But theyre all gifts. And mostly from my mom and mil who live close and come over so theyd see that all of a sudden all of the toys they got us are gone.
Most of her toys stay hidden in the closet most the time anyway and I just switch them out every once in awhile, but there's no organization and they're just thrown in there. It's a disaster zone.

I can already foresee that our LO will have a ton of stuffed animals so I've mentally bookmarked some beanbag cover storage solutions like these. They seem perfect for storing soft toys and giving LO's a place to lounge too!
For hard toys, I hope and believe I will 1) edit constantly, and 2) have a storage bench/box limiting how much we can have. We also have a small room and no play room.
