I'm doing a smash cake for a friend and wondering whether it should be 4" or 6" ? And single or double layer?
Please feel free to share pictures (inspiration or your own) as I'm trying to pin down how to decorate it as well!
Thanks!

I voted for six inch double . . . I have no reason for the double rec, other than I just love me some cake(!), but I think a 6" cake would be easier to work with/frost than a 4" cake . . . ?

6" and double. Single layer looks lame.
P.S. I would be OK with 4" too but 6" seemed to be a common cake pan size!

@yellowbird: Now I am wondering if 4" wouldn't be more appropriate considering how tiny my LO is . . . I don't want her cake to be bigger than her head!

@locavore_mama: Good to know! I am doing 6 (rainbow) layers so it will be tall, too.

@MsLipGloss: I think you def want 6" then for more girth so the layers don't topple.

I did a 6" double layer cake. I could have gotten away with a 4" cake, but I like the size of the 6" one.

I did a 6 inch but it was decently tall because I baked it in a round Pyrex dish instead of a cake pan.

We did a 6" double layer because that's the pan size we found. But most of the cake went to waste, I would think a 4" might be best.

Thanks for the input ladies! I think I'm going to buy a couple of 4" pans and do some test cakes. I'll try to make a point of posting some pictures as well.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Thanks for the pics -- I love the ombre look!
