We shared our pregnancy news through a Valentine card and everyone LOVED it! We've gotten a lot of feedback, especially from people who are not on Facebook and who we don't see often.
Would it be weird to send pictures of LO, maybe as a Shutterfly card, a few times a year, like around his birthday, Christmas, and maybe another random time of year? Or would that seem strange, especially around his birthday, or maybe even come off as gift grabby?

I have 2 friends that send me snail mail greetings for everything with pictures of their LOs. I love it!
I get them for V-day, Easter, Lunar New Years, Halloween, mother's day (sorry not in order, just listing what I can remember), etc. I'm thinking of doing it too but I am lazy!
edit : It's just nice to get something that's not junk mail or a bill once in a while! Also their cards seem like they were made with like costco prints or something so way cheaper than shutterfly.

I'm assuming it would just be to people you are pretty close with, right? I think that would be cute! I love getting mail that isn't junk or bills. And doing it around holidays would be super cute. The birthday one COULD come off as grabby if you sent to a big list but if you are sending it just to people you are close to I don't think they would take it that way.

Nope we have lots of older relatives and they LOVE getting hard copies of photos of DS. Like they obsess over them and hound me all the time. I actually have the Postagram app on my phone and I can quickly send photo postcards using iPhone photos all the time.

I don't think it's weird as long as you're just sending it to close family and friends. I probably wouldn't send the cards out to your entire address list, not because it would seem gift grabby, but because they may not be interested.

We send pictures with thank you cards and our Christmas card. I think in theory it sounds fun to send pictures throughout the year but realistically I would order them and then just sit on them. But if you have the motivation to follow through, do it!

right now, my cousins send her pics online, but she always wants hard copies. Usually a few times a year I help her order them all on a shutterfly, but I know she would love it if someone automatically did this!

It depends who you're sending to. I send snail mail photos to my Grandma who of course adores them, she loves carrying them around her retirement community showing them to her friends. She forgets to look at ones that are shared online or through email.

It'd be a few aunts and uncles on my side and then all of DH's aunts and uncles (none are on Facebook and they've been the most vocal about enjoying the Valentine). I'd probably send them to our parents and sibs too because they'd be sad if they didn't get one lol. So maybe 15-20 total?

@gingerbebe: I'll look into Postagram! We have an aunt who lives in a convent and she sent us the sweetest letter back, saying that she'd lost touch with many of her nieces and nephews and that it was such a wonderful surprise to get the card and to see how much our son has grown. My husband was very close to her when he was a child, but we're so far from his family these days.

I sent Valentines to a select group last year and they were a hit. I should have done it again. I send photos in the mail to family members sometimes because I think they'd like a picture they can display in their house. My aunts who don't have their own grandchildren have so many pics of our kids in their houses, it's really sweet.
