Can you leave early, like Thursday, and get there before the storm hits? Where is your family located-- are they in the mountains or in Calgary? If in Calgary, maybe you could still stay with them even if you can't make the drive up to the mountains for a few more days?

I'm a total baby about driving in snow, but I feel like Canadians are a little heartier than me when it comes to that

@MrsScottish: Yes-- I'd rather have a confirmed seat than risk stand by by waiting, especially this close to Christmas with giant storms coming. (This is coming from someone who was delayed 5 days getting home from Christmas one year, and even that took a lot of finagling and cancelling and booking new flights.)

@woodentulip: Yikes! Hoping for your sake the storm is delayed. DH would suggest that mom & baby go earlier to avoid the storm and he'd go after work. Is that something you'd consider?

@woodentulip: we are flying out of Toronto Sunday too, apparently I need to check the weather, I had no idea, eeeep! We are flying to NS!

Looked at weather network, and it looks like Fri and Sat are going to be the worst for accumulation. We fly first thing Sunday, so can only hope the clean up is done, risk we'll take I guess, oye!

@woodentulip: yeah, given the new forecast, you should be fine...and leaving earlier in the day should help too! have fun!

@woodentulip: Safe travels tomorrow, we haven't been cancelled yet, but things aren't looking too promising. AC cancelled the sametime flight to Halifax, where they are calling for worse weather than here, so we aren't too optimistic at this point!
