Haven't birthed my first yet, but our doula has 6 kids and had different experiences for every one. I think they went like this:

#1 was a medicated, hospital birth
#2 was a natural, hospital birth
#3 was a premature, emergency c-section
#4 was a vbac
#5 was a vbac homebirth
#6 was a vbac home waterbirth

i had a c section with charlie and a vbac with olive. i honestly don't know if i could have pushed charlie out. he was big, sunny side up, wedged way up there no matter how much i pushed....

First baby: 20 hour labor, epidural, vaginal delivery, no complications

Second baby: 6 hour labor, unmedicated, vaginal delivery, no complications

Every birth is different... I kept an open mind going into both, especially the 2nd. It's hard not to expect the same outcome or to not compare. I'm very blessed I had two smooth births, especially the second. All in all though, MOST times I hear that #2s go much faster and easier. But of course I have heard the opposite from some, including my own mom, where #2 had complications when #1 didn't.

No c-section, but very different vaginal births! With my first my water broke, it was 9 hrs, medicated, and no complications. My second was like 2 hrs, non-medicated, and baby ended up in NICU.
