I found the lawn mowing thread interesting and it got me
wondering, what other "manly" things can you ladies do?
Every one always looks at me like I sprouted horns when I tell them I am a pretty decent welder. I also can drive tractor and other heavy equipment.

I can tile/grout, hang and sand drywall, and use the snow blower. I think that's the extent of my "manly" abilities (I can take the trash out, does that count? haha)

I can mow the lawn, do basic car repairs, and I'm a beast at moving furniture 
I also love to do work on my house. Mostly though, I have 'manly' interests, and I know more about cars and video games than most teenage boys

@Bookworm: Ha I'm sorry! For what it worth, there were three people that learned to drive standard on my car, and by the third one, my car was really starting to suffer/be damaged by it, so I can understand why some people are a little wary.
ETA: I do think everyone should know how to drive one, though! What if you are in an emergency and need to drive and that was your only form of transportation?!

Can also drive a tractor, can build/fix pretty much anything with the right tools, and am the handier of the two of us between DH and I.
I grew up in a single Mom household so "had" to play the handyman role with yardwork, home repair, etc, but also worked on a farm, so got a taste of hard work that way too. Enjoy every bit of it, and it's a bit of a joke between DH and I and our friends.....!

@highwire: Haha yeah, I totally understand, I'd probably grind the transmission all up on someone's poor car! I'm tempted to just buy a manual car for my next one and have my husband teach me.

@Bookworm: haha I am a beast furniture mover too! I actually love moving furniture for some reason. And that's awesome that you can do basic car repairs, I kinda know how to change oil (done once) I can change a tire, and remove the breaks though I have never tried putting them back on lol!

@Bookworm: that's what I did! I reaaally wanted this old VW convertible and it was a manual. so I bought it and DH taught me how to drive it

I can do most home repair and DIY related stuff including drywall, tiling, electrical and basic plumbing. Someone else mentioned it as well but I can hold my own with moving furniture and heavy lifting too. DH and I have moved everything we own twice, by ourselves. Before we were married I think I won my FIL's approval when I helped on the farm and was moving bags of grain with them and picking rocks in the field all day lol

@cyndistar3: DH also likes to do/try things, and the way we get to the end result is SO different (example when we built a shelving unit in the rafters of our garage a few weeks ago) so we end up very frustrated with each other! It's a good test of our communication skills and learning to work together! He is handy, but played hockey growing up at a high level up to university so really his life was hockey so just didn't have an opportunity to do anything until current time where we're homeowners, he wants to do it for sure, but knows if I ask for him to do something (ie lawn) and he doesn't get to it soon enough.....I will do it myself, lol. Can't be bothered to bug, will just do it so it's done!

I can also drive a manual transmission. My dad MADE me learn on one. Then I got that car LOL
I also change my own tire. I'd rather just do it myself than call AAA or wait for anyone to do it for me. It amazes me how many people can't change their own tire. Another thing my dad made me learn

@LAGS: When I took DH to the barn where I used to keep my horse when it was time to bring hay in, I think I earned a whole new respect from him unloading three wagon loads of bales back to back up to four of them in the loft....!! Farm work is a whole 'nother type of work at times!!

@Beebug: Loading hay is such hard work. We do it ever summer at my SIL's farm and I'm sore for weeks after. This year we did 17 loads.
I can drive manual, install and mud drywall, install light fixtures, wood work, drive a boat, change a flat. In our house all the power tools are mine. DH isn't great at that kind of stuff.
But I can't kill a spider - some things are just meant to be "Manly work"

I finished our fence! DH and I Have been doing it together all summer, but he works a lot so one Sunday I totally finished it. All we had left to do was the gates. He was so shocked. And so was I! I even had a neighbor come out and tell me to be careful, lol.

Change a flat, installing tile, putting together furniture, painting, basic car repair and upkeep, basic plumbing, basic electrical work... that's all I can think of at the moment.

A lot! I grew up with very DIY-friendly parents, so I picked up a lot. I demoed my first wall when I was 7!
I can do: drywall, tile, roofing, use power tools, assemble furniture, fish/bait my own hook, fix a flat tire, change my own oil, check/replace sparkplugs, mow the lawn, drive a manual..... I'm sure there's more. I was the only girl with 2 brothers and a dad who is a "man's man".

@highwire: I agree!! but no one has taught me yet either. My dad started to teach me when I was 19 but then I moved for a job so we never finished.
@mrbee: lol but you ARE a man. It's expected that you can do those things
@LAGS: DH and I moved our entire first apartment by ourselves too. It sucked, but I did it. I was good with heavy lifting too - until I had a baby. Now my back is permanently ruined.
I'm not really sure... I can set up furniture really easily - and sometimes I do it better than DH because I'm good at following the manual

I can check the oil, change a flat, break down and put together a computer, solder metal, and I enjoy putting together IKEA furniture.

@mrbee: I wish I could hoist heavy luggage over my head! When I travel alone I have to look around all pitifully until some nice gentleman offers to stow my bag for me.
I can also drive a manual, I can lay tile, and do basic electrical work.

I'm a HUGE tom boy and my dad's mini me so I do a bunch of manly things, which I actually enjoy! Which continues to add to my tomboy attitude. Lovely, eh?

I can't do any of these things! I really should learn to change a tire just in case! I am good at figuring out how to work and set things like TVs, computers, DVRs etc. Is that manly?? Haha. My husband and I laid some sticky tiles at his workplace once and I ended up doing more of the work because he wasn't being precise enough. That's kinda manly.

The only manly things I can do is techie stuff and finances. But nowadays..those are neutral things, I think?! I 'can't' even scrub the floor because I don't have elbow power. So I may have convinced my husband, mopping is a manly job.

I don't think I can do any of the things listed! But like @JerricaBenton: I am good with electronics and computers. Although I don't really think those should be considered "manly"!
