Does anyone own a pair of Sorels (for yourself)? Do you like them? What style do you have? And do you find that they have good grip on the bottom? I'm trying to find new snowboots and these seem to be very popular and look like they will be long lasting.

I have a pair (Joan of Arctic, I think?) They're warm and durable, but man are they HEAVY. I don't think I'd get that same kind again, even though they've been good to me in the snow. They're just too heavy to wear all day, which is what I need.

@LovelyPlum: those are the really tall ones right? I don't think I need anything that high, more mid calf or slightly below. Those do look heavy!

@hilsy85: They come up about mid calf, maybe slightly higher. I've been eyeing the Ugg Adirondaks as a potential replacement to mine. I'd be interested to hear what others say.

I have a pair of 1964s. They are excellent in snow, but dang they are sooooo clunky. I still love them though.

@matador84: like would you find it difficult to go sledding, walking around in the snow in them?

I have the Tivoli High. They are alot more lightweight than some of the other Sorels, but they are also not as warm as a result. I don't really wear them anymore except when I am shoveling snow or something since I don't mind if they get dirty.
My favorite boots are my Ugg Adirondacks. They are shorter but they are the warmest boots I've ever had. They are pretty lightweight and not bad in icy conditions. Plus they are comfy and feel like walking in sneakers. I'm debating getting a pair of the tall version. If only they weren't so pricey!

I have a pair of Joan of Arctic as well and I love them! Heavy, yeah but my feet are warm and dry! And they're only mid calf.

@hilsy85: no, because I feel like they hold up so well in snow. I don't typically wear them if there isn't snow or ice on the ground.

I have a pair and don't like them. They are sooooo slippery on certain indoor surfaces. I almost ate it in my office last week after the snow. I wrote about this last year, and someone suggested Uggs.

I have a pair and they are super comfortable and warm- but I always trip/ slip in them! It could be because I am a klutz....

@raintreebee: eek oh no! I wanted a new pair of boot because I felt like my uggs (the classic ones) were so slippery! Maybe I will look into the other ugg styles...

I also have Ugg Adirondacks and I love them. They are clunky but warm, cute and great for pretty much any winter fun we want to have. When I am sledding though I tend to wear my Bogs, which aren't cute but don't have any chance of letting snow in!

@raintreebee: nope they're not! Just the classic shortie boot--they have ZERO traction. And yes, the sidewalks are sooo slippery and cracked!

I have the Tofinos and love them! They look exactly like the Joan of Arctics in picture, but they are actually much narrower and lighter. I just went for a little hike in them last weekend and they were comfy and warm.

@hilsy85: i have had a pair of 1964s I've had for about 4 years and I love them. Even though they're about a half size too big, I've never slipped in them. I regularly wear them shoveling, sled riding, apres ski, etc. (well not now b/c I'm pregnant.)

I was close to buying a pair, but heard they were very heavy. I have a pair of Keen's that I love, but my foot grew after pregnancy. I ended up buying boots from Costco (they were cheap and light) but I overestimated on the fit (they're too big). I'm back to boot hunting, but it can wait until a serious sale comes up
I think I'll finally get Adirondack's. I've been eyeing those forever!

So far, so good. I trek through a lot of muck and snow in the city and they haven't slipped at all. They are maybe a bit heavy but I had a pair of North Face boots before that were much clunkier so I think I'm used to it. I got them on Ruelala when they were having a sale.

I have the Joan of Arctics. They are heavy and clunky but they do keep my feet warm and dry, which is what I wanted. I've walked miles in them with no problem.

I've had a pair of Sorel's and agree with others that they do tend to be heavy. My recommendation on snowboots is actually LLBean. Their products are great and have lifetime warranty. Anything happens to them, even 20 years later, you can return them for a new pair. I bought their boots after I had a pair of Sorels and haven't gone back.

For something lighter I've had both of these Khombu boots. They're warm, light, and waterproof, and while they're not fantastic on ice, they're better than my button Uggs.
The second style us MUCH cuter in person and is dressier.
