Also I had a hard time getting him high enough at first too. The more comfortable I became with BF the easier it got. And I don't have to feed him more frequently.

Me me me! I am a B cup, and breastfeeding. I bf DS and am now 7 months in bf'ing DD. sometimes it is hard getting them up high enough, but it's important that you bring the baby to you rather than crouch down to bring your boob to the baby. Hunching, of stiffness in the shoulders/ chest can affect flow.

I know a lot of people swore by the boppy, I used to put a cushion on my lap and lay bub on the cushion. Worked just as great! I have never been able to comfortably feed in the side position, I feel like I have to arch my back too much to get my boob and nipple to bub's mouth.

Although I have small boobs, the first time I bf I did have to work on the latch by kind of folding my nipple to make it smaller to fit in LO's mouth. There are always little tricks that work great once you are established.

Small boobs here! I don't do side lying it Judy doesn't work for us. I cradle his head in the crook of my elbow to prop him up even at 8 months. I used a boppy forever to bring him up to me.

small b usually/small c breastfeeding here...we do the side lie position, and i can also prop him in the crook of my arm, put a pillow under that arm, and feed him while i'm lying down flat (check out my breastfeeding pic in the gold thread)

I've had no problems with a B cup. I do have a friend that's barely an A that has been able to BF just fine. I do know she couldn't really use the Boppy for the reason you mentioned, and early on she ended up nursing basically in a reclined position to help her LO stay latched. I don't know if she ever nursed in a side-lying position.

My normal bra size is A (with some room, but they don't make adult bras smaller than that) and am just now a B cup after breastfeeding for 5 months+. Things have gone really smoothly for me and I have made plenty of milk for my little miss with no more feedings than the women I know with larger breasts.
I, too had a difficult time getting her high enough at the beginning without hunching over. I fully admit that I still do this sometimes, especially in the middle of the night. I use a boppy, and it has worked well for us. My trick is to take a second pillow (like a couch throw pillow) and tuck it under the boppy on whatever side her head is on. That way she's a little higher and also she seems to have less gas vs. when she feeds totally horizontally.
Side-lying nursing works well for us, too. It took some time and worked best after she had some more head control (about a month or so).

I also have A / small B. I never really had a problem with any position, but did use a boppy every time the first 3 months. I didn't really even attempt the side-lying one until she was like 2 months, but haven't had a problem since then.

It's funny you ask this, because I have very large breasts and though "It much be so much easier if you have small ones" because I had all this boob and she was so tiny. I was constantly having to make sure my boob didn't cover her nose so she could breathe. My BFF has much smaller breasts and she just doubled a pillow from her bed under her nursing pillow to get it high enough.

i guess i have medium sized ones (C) and i had sooooo much trouble with getting him high enough! (i had to use the cross cradle hold and use my other hand to hold/position/massage my boob). i should have tried to switch to regular cradle hold earlier (but i had supply issues so was trying to get more milk out by squeezing!) because i ended up with a lot of neck/shoulder/hand pain from that position.

i used to stuff things under and around the boppy too, but it wasn't the best solution -- they would always shift and move around.

i think this time i'm gonna try and find a MBF to try!

@googly-eyes: My normal bra size is less than an A...like if they made grownup bras in AA, that would be me. I'm a full B now only if my boobs are full of milk, and I haven't had any problems BFing! LO was back at birth weight back at 5 days pp and the pediatrician has seemed impressed w/her weight gain. I use the boppy sometimes, but I think a pillow works just as well. Or a couch pillow propping the boppy. Usually I prop my hand on the pillow and hold her head up to the boob. Side-lying works for me if I wedge a pillow under my back and lean into her...she doesn't get quite as deep of a latch as she should that way, but it doesn't hurt and she still gets the milk out. We only do that at the crack of dawn if I'm too lazy to wake up and want to keep her drowsy!
