Did you have special weekend breakfasts when you were growing up?
My parents usually made pancakes or waffles on the weekend...they never had time during the week!

We were the same. My Dad has a big sweet tooth so he'd make pancakes as a special breakfast pretty often. He'd always make a pancake in our initials for us too, good memories!

Sundays were my parents off day from work, so we'd always go to big boy for brunch before church!

Mmmm. When I was very little, we always went for brunch after church. When we got older (and couldn't eat off the cheap kids menu anymore), we always had pancakes, bacon and eggs. Yum!

No, we didn't do anything special but that's def something fun I'd like to do with my kiddos! Maybe go out to brunch or make pancakes/waffles!

Same as you, OP! My dad made pancakes or waffles on the weekends since there was no time for them during the week. He would get up early with me to watch Winnie the Pooh and have pancakes.

Yes! Eggs with challah on Saturday mornings. Whoever was up first (after dad, of course) got to pick what kind of eggs he would make that morning.

We do this now, usually bacon and eggs at least one day on the weekend. It just sort of started after LO was born, I love it.

My family is dutch, so every once in a blue moon (usually on my birthday or a quiet weekend) my dad would make poffertjes.
They're dutch dollar pancakes (made with buckwheat flour and yeast), traditionally served with icing sugar. They're amazing and I plan on making them for my own children someday.

My dad makes the most incredible biscuits and gravy on the planet. He used to make it on Sunday mornings.
I also always loved when I would wake up and find that he had gotten up before all of us and gone and gotten fresh doughnuts.

MY dad made pancakes every Saturday! delish.. we would usually wake up by smelling them.
There were many nights, if my mom didn't cook, we had pancakes or eggs for dinner since that was easy for him
haha. He was a cook at a diner-type restaurant when he met my mom and has always loved (or at least tolerated) cooking.

We used to go to the diner across the street once in awhile and get huge breakfasts there. I think it was $3.99 and you got eggs, toast, bacon, home fries and coffee. It was always such a treat!

I don't remember special breakfasts as a kid, but DH loves to make "weekend breakfast". He'll make pancakes or birds nest (fried egg inside toast) or breakfast burritos. We have had a special breakfast, just us, at least one day over the weekend for about 2 years now.
We just had DS, so now I guess he "eats" it too through my milk. I keep saying that our son's future friends will love sleeping over because the breakfast the next morning will be so good!

@highwire: same answer! Well, I would eat cereal. I don't think they cooked me breakfast once!

Usually pancakes and bacon, or waffles. Sometimes my mom would make a Dutch pancake too. Now I'm hungry for breakfast food!
