At a friend's wedding, we had a pasta dish with an amazing creamy white sauce that was medium spicy. I cannot figure out what was in it, and the bride and groom have no idea either 
It wasn't quite Alfredo....It seemed less thick.
Anybody have a recipe for a spicy white pasta sauce? DH and I loved it!

was it like a carbonara, possibly? Sometimes they put spicy sausage in it and it kinda is a thin white sauce?

To make cream sauces I just start with about 2 tb flour and 2 tb butter (it doesn't matter exactly just have it 1:1) and brown it for a minute. Then I heat about a cup or cup and a half of milk up in the microwave before adding it to the pot and stir it till it thickens (it has to just slightly simmer). After it thickens I just add milk until it's the desired consistency and start throwing in spices. A bit of cayenne pepper would make it spicy and we do that sometimes if LO isn't going to eat it. I usually add basil and thyme and always just a dash of nutmeg, donno why but it makes the cream sauces seem so much warmer to me. Also melting the cheese right in is tasty.

Was it cacio e pepe (like this http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/cacio-e-pepe)? Sometimes I put red pepper flakes in that and it's a light spicy white sauce. Even without the red proper flakes, with enough fresh ground pepper, it's pleasantly spicy.

If it was cheesy, it might have been a thinner Alfredo (homemade is usually a little thinner than in a restaurant/store-bought) with red pepper flakes?

Usually the base of a white pasta sauce is just a bechamel. There are lots of recipes online. Then you can add almost anything you want to it-- cheese, spice, veggies. I bet starting with that you could get pretty close to approximating it.

Looks like I'm going to have to play in the kitchen this weekend! It sounds very similar to yours @Mrs. Detour: ! It was thin, lots of cheese flavor, some kind of Italian herbs, roasted garlic, teeny bits of mushrooms, and red pepper flakes and cracked black pepper.
