I also am an oldest child (of 3) married to a youngest child (of 3). I think the opposite thing works for us! My Dad is the second-oldest of 4, and my Mom is the youngest of 3. I notice a very similar dynamic between them, that I see with myself and DH.

I'm not sure if it's birth order or personality, but I am a micro-manager and a control freak (hah!). DH is so laid-back, and antagonizes me to be funny. I think it works, though, because I've learned to roll with punches and he has become more responsible!

Rob Sr. is an oldest and I'm a youngest. But we're both kinda hybrids because he's only 15 months older than his bro, and I'm 2 years younger than my bro but we grew up like peers.

My mom is an oldest of 3 and my dad is youngest of 9! It works great for them.

I'm an oldest, my husband is a middle but the only boy. His personality is more youngest child. Actually his family is weird, because the youngest is the bossy controlling one, and for some odd reason, the older ones actually listen to her!

I'm the youngest and DH is the oldest, a functional only child since he's way older than his siblings. I think it's a great balance. He makes me occasionally put my feet on the ground and I make him occasionally dream and play and be silly. Even though he's three years younger than me, I feel like I'm the younger one. But, then again, even his mom says he was born middle-aged!

We're both youngest, and both have older sisters. I find that I had (have? lol!) typical younger sibling issues because older sister got everything first etc. but it was different for DH. Rules were different for him and his sister because of the different genders. Things like, he had to fix his own car long before she had to do her own because he was a boy and was taught to change his own oil. Seems silly, but I really think being different genders made a difference in the expierence of being a youngest.

I'm an only/oldest. I was an only child until my mom had my half brother when I was 18 years old. Mr. TTT is the youngest of two. I'm pretty bossy (hello teacher), so I think there might be something to that theory that oldest children pick spouses who are used to being bossed around

@Mrs. Jacks: very rarely for us, I feel like we are on the same page about most things. Like you, not sure if it is compatibility or something else.

We are both very career and education driven, but he is much more easy going than me- I am definitely a micro manager (but working on it!). Fortunately our son is taking after his dad in the easygoing department!

We are both the oldest and we agree and get along well in almost every way. I think we both grew up kind of being the voice of reason in our families, and so now it feels nice to have only reasonable voices in our own family!

We are bothe middle children. I am a traditional middle child whereas he is probably more of a youngest child personality wise...

DH is an oldest (of 4) and I'm a youngest. Every relationship I've ever had that lasted more than 3 months has been with an oldest of 4 - how crazy is that?!
