Judy Blume is a genius. I learned most of what I know about menstruation from "Are you there God, it's me Margaret." (This was pre-Wikipedia.)

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Superfudge were also epic. ("Eat it or wear it!!" I still say that in my head all the time.) Those books taught me that sometimes it's ok for kids to think that families can be unfair. A simple concept, but it was such a relief to see that other kids thought about these things.

I heard rumors about a sex book, which I later discovered was called Forever. But I was never able to get my hands on it, alas.
