I loved reading when I was a kid. Then I guess going out became too fun and reading took a back seat. 
I read all the Sweet Valley series, Nancy Drew, Babysitters Club, Judy Blume's books, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and all of Roald Dahl's books, Beverly Cleary's Ramona books, Anne of Green Gables, The Little Princess, Where the Red Fern Grows, Pippi Longstocking....

A lot of the same favorites: BSC, SV series, Goosebumps, Boxcar Children, Encyclopedia Brown series, Matilda is my absolute favorite childhood book....
I also loved the reading club books from my elementary school. Phantom Tollbooth, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Hatchett, Maniac Magee, etc.

I read so many books, I couldn't even start to name them all! Some were: Goosebumps, The Pony Club, Box Car Kids, Shiloh, and there was an author, whose name I cannot think of for the life of me right now, but I read every book she wrote.... Dang! When I think of her name I will let you know

@Mrs.Bee OMG, I read practically all the same series!! I was a total bookworm.
I also loved these books by this author named Lurlene McDaniels who wrote all these young adult novels about people with terminal illnesses. Wow, that doesn't sound very good... but they were total tearjerkers, and I LOVED a good tearjerker! I also loved books by Diana Wynne Jones, who wrote fantasy books, kind of the in the vein of Harry Potter.

Well, every single book you mentioned. I re-read Anne of Green Gables a million zillion times. I also read a lot of the Diary-esque books (there was a series name but I forget). I read a lot of books beyond my age. I think I read Gone With The Wind in 5th grade?
In my younger days I *obviously* read the Amelia Bedelia books because I was a narcissistic child.

I read most of the ones you mentioned. As a younger kid I loved The Bernstein Bears. I also liked The Boxcar Children, Goosebumps, The Giver, A Child Called It & the other books by that author.

I loved Sweet Valley, Judy Blume's books, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory too. I never really liked Where the Red Fern Grows as a kid but I read it every year as a teacher in the classroom and my whole class and I enjoy it every year!
I just ordered Christina Katerina and the Box for nostalgia's sake. It had a creative female main character. My mom said I loved reading a HOW TO do everything book when I was very young.. I remember learning how to tell my left hand from my right hand from that book (make an L for left). Oh and I was totally into Archie Comic Books.

My favorite "picture books" were Corduroy, Harold and The Purple Crayon, and this one Sesame Street book where Elmo gets lost in the mall. My favorite "chapter books" were The Boxcar Children, A Wrinkle In Time, Amelia Bedelia, The Horseriding Club or whatever the spinoff of The Babysitters Club was called, and this Christian book series about a girl named Mandie: http://www.amazon.com/Mandie-Secret-Tunnel-Book/dp/0871233207.
@sweetchic: I absolutely loved Lurlene McDaniel too! I remember after reading "Don't Die My Love" I just laid on the floor and cried and cried! I loved the tragedy and the in-depth descriptions of their makeup (I loved makeup, haha).

My favorite picture book was Anno's Journey.
I also really liked Babar and the Madeline books.
Some others I loved were Lois Lenski's books, Little House on the Parrie, Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High, Little Princess, Judy Blume books.

A Dog Called Kitty, Maude and Claude Go Abroad, anything Dr. Suess or Shel Silverstein. The Choose Your Own Adventures were also a big favorite!

I loved all the ones that you mentioned although Anne of Green Gables was my absolute favourite. I was also obsessed with Roald Dahl. I might have made my own version of George's Marvellous Medicine a few times.

I hated reading (still do, actually). The only books I liked were The Babysitters Club-- and I'd always skip the first chapter because it just explained how the club started/worked. LOL.

Oh man, I loved loved Anne of Green Gables. When I was little, the Berenstain Bears were the best. My mom just gave me my whole tattered collection of them. Best gift ever! Can't wait until LO is old enough to appreciate them.

Definitely the Anne of Green Gables series and Babysitters Club books! Also read the Sideways Stories of Wayside School books and for awhile I was into the scary R.L. Stine books.

BSC, BSC Little Sister, Sweet Valley, and the Saddle Club were favs. I wasn't a huge reader until High School when I got into romance novels, maybe 10th grade? Terrible literature, but I love it!!

I've always loved fantasy books.
My faves as a kid were the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Redwall books. I also remember enjoying all of the Roald Dahl books.
