In the ear piercing thread I saw someone mention a belly button piercing. I had mine pierced for my 15th birthday and took it out in the last year or so. The hole still hasn't closed up. I was one of the first girls I knew to get it done, but by the time I got out of high school everyone had theirs done. Do you have your belly button pierced?

I used to, but I took it out around the time of our wedding. I have one teeny tiny stretch mark, just a centimeter or so, running from the closed hole to the belly button. For some reason I love that one stretch mark!

I got it done when I was 17, when my stomach was flat and cute. About five years ago, I went to the ER with really bad stomach pains and had to get an MRI so I had to take out my piercing. I couldn't find the little ring afterward and I never replaced it. It's grown shut but you can still tell that it's been pierced. However, now a lot fewer people actually see my stomach so it's no big deal

Nothing but my ears. And I even feel guilty about having those done! I've always been told that Jews are supposed to leave this world the same way they came into it... no piercings or tattoos. Oh well.

I had mine pierced at age 18 and took it out when I was 24. 7 years later, I still have a scar - pregnancy hasn't totally warped it yet, but we'll see...

Mine is pierced but I took out the piercing about a year ago when I was traveling and lost the ball on the end. It hasn't closed up yet though.

I had mine done at 20 and could never get it out. Once I found out I was pregnant, my sister and I became Mad Doctors to get it out- painful but after about 20 minutes of trying and my mom holding me down, we got it.

I had mine pierced at 22. I took it out a few months ago. The top hole hasn't really closed all of the way. @Pipers Mommy: I attempted to take mine out and it wouldn't go. I ended up spending $10 to have a tattoo/piercing studio take it out for me. What's funny is that I forgot that I had it in for the longest time. Now, that it's gone. I noticed that there isn't anything there anymore.

That was me! I had my belly button pierced when I was 19 - a form of rebellion. I took it out when I was 29...When I found out I was pregnant. I decided I was too old for it and that that time of my life (wanting to rebel, wanting to be "cool") was in the past. It was liberating!

Yup - my girl friend and I went to get it pierced during our junior year in college on a random boring Saturday. I kept it in for 3-4 years then finally decided to get rid of it when the piercing kept getting caught on sweaters. Well... now that I am 9 months preggos I can see why naive little me shouldn't have done it. I have 3 distinct marks - the outside pierced scar, the inner pierced scar, and my flat as a pancake belly button all in line with my linea nigra. =\ NOT very nice to look at!!! But luckily, no stretch marks yet so I'm counting my blessings.
By the way, my due date is today... please send labor fairy dust this way!

@Pipers Mommy: That does sound like a scary experience. I always went to a tattoo shop/piercing studio when I would switch out jewelry too. I figured it was worth the money to have someone else whose skilled do it than me who could possibly hurt myself doing something stupid.

My parents took me to get my belly button pierced when I was 16 (I really wanted it so they paid for it for my birthday). I still have it in, I don't really know why, no one but DH ever sees it, but it feels like part of me. I am 25 weeks pregnant now and I am concerned about what it will end up looking like, though I bought a pregnancy piercing so I can maintain the piercing through the pregnancy.

I got mine done when I was 18 and took it out four years later. I had it out for three years by the time I got pregnant and the scar from where it was looks kind of wonky, but not too bad. It would probably look better if I re-pierced it to be honest, but I'm getting too old. Also, my husband would probably tease me about it!

I had it pierced when I was 18 & took it out when I was 22 & I got pregnant when I was 23. The scar got a bit darker after the pregnancy but it's already faded. I don't know if I just got very lucky with the scar or if the scar lotion I use actually works

I got mine done at 16 (mentioned in previous thread) but have been thinking of taking it out as my belly is not as sexy as it was 10 years ago! I think it's time to retire it before I get pregnant. Maybe I'll do that this weekend!

Nope. But I totally wanted to in college. It was kind of the "it" thing to do. But then I saw a few that got infected (eek) and it turned me off.

Nope... I have five piercings -- all in my ears. Never liked my belly enough in HS to do it... and allll the girls were getting them, so I'm glad I didn't....

I got mine pierced when I was 14. My friends were so jealous. I'm 23 now and I still have it, although I don't particularly like it. I feel like it would be so strange not to have it there. TBH I never even think about it, it just seems like a part of me.
I'll probably take it out when I get pregnant.

I don't. I used to want it pierced when I was younger, but I always felt I was too chubby for it to look right. Once I finally got down to a healthier weight and felt confident enough to do it, I didn't really want it anymore.

@artbee: I was told that too, and then I talked to my mom who told me to talk to the rabbi. Jews in the Torah did have piercings (golden calf was made from what? yes earrings and nose rings). My rabbi explained that it was a sign of servitude--if at the sabbatical year you still wanted to work for the same master and not be released, you would get a piercing.
So... after that my mom said I could get my ears pierced. At age 25 I got my belly button pierced. Actually it helped motivate my weight loss more than any other little thing (I lost 24 pounds over 2.5 years

Now, I have the PTFE "pregnancy" ring in now, and plan to keep the ring as long as possible. I'm 28, and I know I'm "too old" for it, but I love it. -
Yep! I got it done when I was 16. I begged my mom to take me, haha. I don't regret it because I loved it when I was younger, and nowadays, I forget it's there. Like Mrs Sorbet said, it's like a part of me!

I still have mine in, I have had it since I was 19. But I am thinking I am going to remove it once the belly starts growing.

I had mine done when I was 18 and took it out when I had a tonsillectomy when I was 22 and never put it back in. You can tell that it used to be pierced...I'm curious how it'll look as my belly expands with pregnancy!
