We have never asked people to remove their shoes at our house but I have one friend who always scuffs my floors with her heels. I would love to ask her to remove hers.... I have friends from Canada that always remove their shoes when they come over and ask that we do the same at their home. They are just used it from home.
Do you ask guests to remove their shoes when they come to your house?

I don't even have to ask. Everyone automatically removes their shoes --- except for my MIL. Drives us nuts. We always have to ask her. She is the only person!

We don't ask. Neither of us had to do that growing up so we don't think twice about wearing shoes in the house.

We always remove shoes in our house. The only people who don't automatically remove their shoes when they enter our home are delivery/installation people, painters, etc. All friends, family, guests remove shoes.

Yup, absolutely. I hate it when people wear shoes in our house. We only bend the rules when we have a lot of people over for a large family dinner or something.

@Grace: Well, I have had three separate friends here who are originally from Canada. All of them have the no shoes in the house rule. One friend told me it is habit for them because usually you come in with snow boots on and can't wear those around the house.

We usually don't have to ask. People usually see the shoes outside and get the hint. I dont see the point in wearing shoes in the house either and tracking dirt everywhere.

We don't have to ask either. It's just automatic for friends/family to take off their shoes in the entryway. Actually, I don't think I've ever asked. People just did it. I always take off my shoes when I go to other people's homes, too. I'm not from Canada, either.

We don't ask people to remove their shoes, but it annoys me when people leave their shoes on. We never wear shoes inside, and most of our friends remove their shoes in our home (and in their own), so it usually works out. I almost always remove my shoes at other people's homes, unless its obvious that everyone is leaving their shoes on.

Most people who come over see our shoes by the front door and take theirs off without question. If someone does ask, I ask them to, yes.

I don't ask either, but I think they get the hint from the shoes at the entrance. This was a big deal in my family. My mom would be pissed at anyone who walked into the house with their shoes on.

we don't have to because everyone does. but if the repair man comes, i don't ask him to. but most of them are good about it and either wipe their shoes before they step into the house or wear those booties.

I don't ask, but most people notice because we have a fairly obvious shoe rack by the door and I wander around the house barefoot most of the time.

Well, I am in Canada, so I never have to ask people to, but if they didn't remove them automatically, I would definitely request that they remove the shoes!
