My parents never threw me birthday parties or bought me presents. I think we will keep it pretty simple for Charlie and Olive with small family celebrations. But I can imagine that they're going to want a birthday party if all their friends have one... and I won't be able to resist!
Do you plan on throwing birthday parties for your child? Up to what age?

I never had parties either but I probably always had presents. I don't want to have a party for the LO every year ... but DH says that we have to since he got a party every year.

I got birthday parties every year and so will lo. She'll get to pick what she wants to do, within reason of course, and she'll tell us when she's too old for parties. But we'll always do something, even if its just going to dinner.

I certainly plan to do parties every year. I love the planning and preparation involved in parties anyway, so I'll probably enjoy it as much as the kiddies!

LO hasn't gotten a party yet. We may do something small for his next birthday. We'll see. But for sure not every year.

I never had parties. She'll have one at 1, 5, 10 and maybe 16. The none party years will be dinner out with the family. (what we did.)

I'll throw her a nice 1st birthday but after that, we'll just do small family dinners or something. When she's in school and has friends, we might have an afternoon party but nothing over the top.

Yes. We had parties growing up, I never thought not to, to be honest. Not huge, blow out parties, but parties with cake and gifts.

i think we'll have our immediate family (just me, hubs and the kids) for most years. maybe every 5 years or so we'll throw a party. we'll see.

I had a birthday party every year until I turned 18.

We will throw parties, but nothing over the top! Or every year. Last year we went to a family fun place. This year though, we just had dinner with just us at home and then we went to a hotel and swam and stayed the night with just us on the weekend.

We want to throw them as long as he wants them. I only want really large parties for big birthdays aka his 1st birthday, but hubby wants huge ones every year. I guess around this time next year we will know who won that one. ;p

Yeah, I think we will for the first 10 years or so. It won't be big all the time but if it's just his friends or just family, I think that's fine.

My parents allowed us to have a party every other year for as long as we wanted them. They had 3 chilren and could not afford for us to each of one yearly. I stopped having them rather young, but that was my decision. I think we will be doing something similar with our family.

My siblings and I had parties every year growing up, even if it was just a family gathering at home. I plan do to the same for LO.

Yes! We did, all of us, every year. Also the birthday girl or boy got to choose where family dinner was (within reason.) We will probably always continue that part of the tradition, as we did it for parents and grandparents too.
And for our future LO's, yes, they'll get one every year. Though I do still have a problem spending lots on the parties when they are like 1,2,3 and won't remember. I think at those ages it'll be mostly family only.

We had birthday parties but it was just the immediate family and consisted of pizza, cake, and candles. Can't remember getting any presents until we were teenagers though.
I think everyone should have a special day so we'll definitely have a birthday party every year.

I want to, but I don't know how I will handle having a bunch of kids over for a December party. I can't just send them into the backyard and I don't want to get into the habit of having to rent a location, so my options are limited. I'd like to just have his friends over, so we'll see.
I think a birthday cake is a must, though. I had one every year, and still have one! I love cake!

I think it can be a good learning experience for kids. I know I always helped my mom make the invitations, decorate the house, clean up, and send thank you notes. We had them until our 12th birthday.
